Worried now about my health. Getting a panic attack.

Today I had some honey nut cheerios for breakfast this morning before getting ready for work, I do take awhile to eat since I suffer from GERD and it would sometimes feel like food gets caught in my throat and I would be so worried about it that I take hours to eat, making sure most of my food is crushed enough for me to not worry about possibly choking or not feeling that annoying sensation of it feeling stuck. I took more than two hours to eat my cereal today and the after taste was very sweet, I did have cheerios a few times where it changes the milk to taste like that, but I'm worried about having food poisoning from taking forever to eat and possibly making the milk go spoiled fast and my panic attack is increasing from fear of possibly dying now from spoiled milk I might of consumed as I looked up on how long milk can be out for and it said for 2 hours according to FDA, should I be worried?

you have absolutely nothing to worry about! I can’t tell you how many times in my college apartment I drank milk that had been sitting out for several hours and nothing ever happened. Even if something happened the worst thing would be perhaps a little upset stomach but I never even got that.

There’s no way that is going to kill you! they just say two hours so that people don’t leave it out for two days!

Please don’t overthink this because you’re going to be just fine. When we have family parties, milk will stay out for even three hours and we just put it back in the refrigerator.

you Will know when milk has gone bad because it will have a distinct smell. Still isn’t going to kill anybody. Take care and relax!

Hi, Sorry - this is a late reply but I'm brand-new here 😃 Even if the milk was slightly spoiled, there's no risk of poisoning. It was REALLY off, you'd never stand the taste and you would vomit or later have an upset stomach - the body's way to get the nasty stuff out. Cheese is made from "off" or curdled milk and some yoghurts use soured milk and they're not poisonous.

As jan34534 says - you'll be perfectly fine. Just don't leave milk out for long on warm days - you'll soon know if you pour a splash into a glass and try it - it'll be sickly and make you want to spit it out instantly.

Hope that helps 😃 Take care!
