Worrisome

I've recently had a little soreness near my urethra and I've checked in a mirror and my clitoris seems to be now invisible. But what really is worrying me is that for 5 or 6 days since the slight soreness near my urethra I've had slight bleeding from around that area. I had my period which ended just over a week ago and if it is remnants of my period then it is lasting much longer than usual. Also the slight amounts of blood I notice when I wipe seem to be coming from higher up nearer to my urethra than to my introitus. Has anyone had this or know what this could be. I don't think there is blood in my urine but seems to be there when I wipe. Please help

Yes I have a certain amount of bleeding if the skin feels fragile enough.  Best get it checked out, but it is probably rubbing from toilet tissue and nothing more sinister.  I try wherever possible to keep the skin from getting stuck together.  I use coconut oil for this purpose and Dermovate (Clobestasol in the US and Canada) if the flair up is bad.  This usually relieves things greatly.  Try not to become too anxious!  Good luck!

Just over a year ago the dermatologist reduced my steroid cream. Changed it from the 0.5% dermovate to 0.1% elocon ointment. I must admit the ointment is much easier to apply but since switching I have had more flares.

We had some sort of zovirax cream in the beginning to apply and it was such a relief. And they quit selling it at the clinic and insurance charges $714 for it here in the US needless to say I dont buy the cream.

That is extortionate. How do they justify that cost.

I was talking to my GP and she said that at a meeting, all the medics had agreed that Dermovate is the only reliable control.

I was talking to my GP and she said that at a meeting, all the medics had agreed that Dermovate is the only reliable control. She prescribed ever increasing potency steroid ointments, until we reached Dermovate, which finally did the trick.

Well went to docs today and after having a look the doc says that the area near my urethra looks a little like grazed skin. So I'm guessing that's when the slight bleeding is coming from. So a little less worried now.

have they prescribed a washing crea for after you go to the loo?  sometimes toilet tissue can be quite abrasive.

No I have hydromol ointment that they gave me to use anyway and I've started using bicarb spritz too

Hi, use the hydramol to wash with as well as moisturising after every visit to loo. The more you use it the better for your skin. It prevents dragging and tearing by toilet paper. It moisturises and protects the skin from urine burn.

Hello , I'm having a problem with a white place on my lower gum and because I have LP I thought I would come here and see if anyone else was having the same problem .then I saw your message and knew I had to respond to you . I was diagnosed with Lichen Planus a a few years ago but had problems with tearing years before that . I also looked to see what was happening late one night because I was burning so bad I couldn't sleep , and could not see my clitoris ! That made me go to a Gyno. She did a puncher biopsy and it came back LP . She told me to use Clobetasol cream morning and night , I have used it as directed and I no longer tear but she said I can just say goodby to my clitoris , the constant tearing made scar tissue form over it , so it's still there just not visible . As I said I have LP in my mouth too and about 2 months ago this white place came up on my lower gum , it's sensitive but not real painful . I have it inside my mouth and so far other than this place on my gum , it's not a problem . I was told dental work could make it flare up . I hope you get some answers about your problems . I am 75 and have had this for the last 10 years . Welcome to my world . Leta

Hi leta sorry about that just wondered whether you've had any problems when you were younger down there with abnormal cells.....

Hi Leta, you must see your Gp with this. It is probably nothing but I had this and was immediately referred to a specialist for biopsy to rule out anything sinister. Most likely it isn't as this can occur with dry mouth from meds and other causes like Lichen planus but it needs checking. Sooner rather than later. Most cases are nothing to worry about. In Uk you get seen very quickly.
