Worrying again

I am 49 years old and I can not quite believe this ordeal with perimenopause. I have been suffering the most unusual symptoms and every time I think I am going to die of something awful. I stress out all the times because I am a single mom with a 12 year old daughther and I can not even imagine what it could happen to her if something would happen to me. lately I have been feeling super light headheaded all the time and dizzy too. I am starting to think there is something wrong with me.  I did go to the doctor and he found out I have premature atrial contractions, which completely put  me into anxiety of having an heart attack and dying because of it! What a mess !  Now I am waiting for an Holter monitor to be placed on me and until then I am so worried that I have heart disease or something bad with my heart. I read these posts on this site and found some relief knowing that there so many perimenopausal women who feel like me!

I will say, first... get a second opinion on your heart issue. My girlfriend went through the same thing... thinking she was going to die of a heart condition, per her docoto. She went to a specialist and found out it was only perimenopause. Also, the dizziness is quiet normal. I used to get so sea sick for no reason and out of nowhere. Also I had nausea that felt like morning sickness. It all passed. So many times I thought I had some serious diesase. One thing that got rid of the morning sickness and dizziness was a cut back on the caffine. Keep reading these threads and you'll find something from someone that will help you. I wish you all the best. This too shall pass...

    Hi italian mama

have you seen a Gyno re . Perimenopause and the symptoms.. ?

    Heres some useful info..

Adrenal fatigue, for example, is a common secondary condition for many women going through perimenopause.

B-vitamins support healthy adrenal function, along with calming and maintaining a healthy nervous system.

Many women also suffer with mood swings during perimenopause. Both B12 and B6 vitamins aid in the production of neurotransmitters such as serotonin, a key brain chemical needed to stabilize moods and promote feelings of wellness and contentment.

For women who suffer with brain fog, and memory issues in perimenopause, low levels of B6 could be part of the problem.

Depression, confusion, and an inability to concentrate are all associated with B6 deficiency. Vertigo, dizziness, and heart palpitations are also common complaints from women going through perimenopause.

All of these symptoms have been associated with (among other things) a B12 deficiency.

Vitamin B6 can also help with stubborn weight gain in perimenopause. It is key in the breakdown and utilization of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins in our diet, and is necessary for a healthy metabolism - both which can help manage weight.

Thank you for your support, I have never been on a forum like this and I find it very helpful and heart warming to see that there are other women out there that would take time out of their days to answwer to my concerns. I will certainly take your advice and will take the Bs supplements and get a second opinion. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving if you live in the USA!

Hi Italian Mama, again... my post was suppose to say "per her doctor". LOL Anyway... I am in the Los Angeles,CA area, in the film industry. I begged people "older" than me for advice. So many of these women would flat out tell me that they haven't gone through that yet or they wre too young.

Sorry, my shockwave keeps crashing and stalling my writing! Argh. My point is ... I'm so grateful for this blog. It litteraly saved my sanity. LOL And I've turned other women onto it. I had a woman on the set of a commercial start crying because I openly spoke about my symptoms and she shared hers with me. She too had no one to talk to. This blog has been a life saver. I live in the land of severe ageism  Thank you UK people! You ladies are amazing! biggrin

    Hi italianmama

premature atrial beats are not signs of heart disease, and can be of no consequence at all.  It is quite common for these symptoms to be related to peri or menopausal symptoms, as you'll know from reading all the posts on this site.  It won't hurt to have the holter monitor just to confirm there are no other arrhythmias.  I see many ladies in my chest pain clinic, around our age with complaints of chest pain and palpitations, usually they are not related to heart disease, but it is always best to get it checked out.  Please don't worry about the prem atrial beats.

Thank you for your input. I did feel quite worried all day yesterday and I could not relax as my dizziness was quite active and skipping the heart beats feeling did add to my anxiety. I was debating wether or not to go to the ER but the finacial impact of that kept me from going in. Love all the responses as they reassure me about my condition.

    Thank you Viv,

I spent all Thanksgiving worrying about my symptoms and wondering if I should have gone to the ER.  The dizziness drives me crazy and feeling the heart skipping does not help. I love to hear all the inputs as it makes me feel a little less crazed about dying. Love this Forum!

      You're welcome,

I look forward to hearing that all your tests are negative, then at least you can stop worrying about the symptoms, just learn to cope with them, as anxiety will just make them worse.

      Take  care
