Worrying, is this something more serious?

Really desperate for some info as I have never suffered from anything like this before.

I'm 21 and got diagnosed with muscle strain last month which required ibrophen on a daily basis. I wasn't given anything to detect my stomach and it seems since last month I've developed what seems to be acid reflux. My symptoms have been over a month now.

- burping 30-60 times a day

- lump in throat/sore throat feeling

-pain in neck & ears

It's generally made me feel very unwell and since I also suffer from health anxiety it's only caused me a lot of stress on a daily basis. I've been on Lanzoprozil & raniditine, both of which haven't seen to make a difference.

When do I start pushing for a Endoscopy?

    Hi.

    I have acid reflux.

All with the symptoms you describe

I was on lansoprosole for a few years.

Don't know why but I suddenly started getting side effects from them.

I now control it with diet and up to now it's keeping it under control

Iv also started having Manuka honey which is good for digestion and for healing.

The more anxious you get the worse the reflux will be.

      Hi Julie,

Thanks for the reply and the advice. Is it normal to burp so much during the day? And did you also suffer from the neck and ear pain? I feel like the pain is not as common as burping and throats problems

      Thanks

      Hi.

I was burping alot, not so much now because I'm watching what I eat.

Neck pain yes but ear pain no.

All my pain was mainly in my chest, and back, my tummy was

making the most herendous gurgling noises, still does little.

Gaviscon helped with the reflux when I came off my tablets now I only use it when I feel that lump in my chest.

Go back to your GP you don't have to suffer.

Anxiety not nice. Until youv had it nobody knows what your going

      through,

      Wishing you well

    Hi abigail86693,

I'm 34 and recently been experiencing the same symptoms as you, had it for around 3 months now. It started with burping all day long, even first thing in the morning before any food or drink. I didn't think it was possible to burp so much in one day! Also had the lump in the throat and pain in neck. Sometimes it feels like my ear is blocked too.  A low fat/acid diet seems to be helping the lump in the throat and burping but now I get really painful burning in my throat sometimes when I eat or drink.  It's horrible and stress does make it worse, but it's difficult not to stress about it like you said!

I'm on pantoprazole at the moment (omeprazole didn't work) and waiting to see a gastroenterologist in May - which seems a long way away. I definitely think the best thing is to try not to worry about it as much as you can. Maybe see your GP again and ask if they can look at your medication to see if there's something else that could help.

Hope you start to feel a bit better soon :-)
