Worse 2 years

My story nothing can prepare anyone to deal with this monster called menniers. I woke up one morning and could not get to my car to sub. I had spent my whole life working with kids. To enrich the story I had suffered with General anxiety for my entiRe life. Taking a small amount of xanax .5 keep it in check. But add menniers and you are in real trouble. I left working with kids because anxiety was over the top. Went through drop attacks but got under control by blind walking alot. I have had profusions done in right ear last X-mas. Talk about wrecking your life quit doing most social stuff I did anxiety thru roof. This in turn lead to depression, anxiety, and menniers. I live in small town soeveryone thinks I just couldn't handle things so compunded the issue. I plan to go to Memphis this week for profusions. The doctor prescribed Effexor for anxiety and depression. Not doing alot of good , done yoga, walking, and talking. Also have watched salt. It's pretty tough when you throw all this together. Any comments to help me go forward be appreciated. And to beat all I was pretty good at what I did .

Really been struggling myself too lately. I have had RA for many years and this Meniere's started properly for me only 4months ago, well that was first real vertigo attack, have been dizzy and having tinnitus for about a year or so bit didn't think too much of it as it wasn't as bad as it is now. For me the tinnitus is the worst part now, its been absolutely dreadful, can't stand it and went to docs again tonight, came away disappointed and angry. Anyway looked up stop tinnitus instantly and couldn't believe within a few minutes it had stopped!!! I have been lying on my bed watching TV waiting for it to get awful again and it hasn't happened!!!! The technique is so simple too and so many people had commented I can't understand why isn't widely known! You just put your palms over your ears and hands round back of head near bottom.of skull. Middle fingers touching, you place fore fingers over middle finger and push away onto head like a drum. I'm. Probably not explaining well but can't post link. You do this drumming action up to 50 times but I only did about 10 times-it stopped! Seriously!! Really hope you get some relief soon x

I found that too but didn't work for me, unfortunately.

It all sounds horrific - the only plus side I can see, is that other MD suffers understand.

It's not life threatening - but defo life changing. I've suffered hearing loss, drop attacks, vomiting. I'm currently taking 3x 16mg betahistine x 3 a day - I'm due surgery for a Meniette - it's not proven effective - but I'm willing to give it a go!

I'm in the UK - what is profusion?

Keeping off caffeine and a low sodium diet has helped also on a natural duirtic horsetail, and gingko for better circulation. Been putting collide silver a few drops in ear during hard days, and also use peppermint and frankincense essential oils. A little behind ear. Rub some on hands and breath in. Helps so much. Have prescription drugs that I only use if it's a complete attack. Hang in there.. keep trying different things until you figure out what works for you. I sleep on 2 pillows at night. Keep you head stabluzed.. no fast turns.

    James,

I'm so sorry you're going through a rough time.  You're absolutely right:  Meniere's is pretty hard to deal with all by itself.  But then when you throw all that other stuff in with it....I can imagine that you must feel pretty overwhelmed.  I completely get it.  I was paralyzed by MD for quite some time. Couldn't get off the couch for more than a year....And until I accepted the unpredictability of it all, and got rescue meds that actually helped, my anxiety was over the top.  Finding this site helped me enormously in learning about the disease and finding strategies to cope.  But most important, I don't feel alone with this anymore.  That has made a huge difference.

    Take good care,

      Hi Angela,

The rescue meds I use are Glycopyrrolate 1 mg (for nausea and vomiting), Meclazine 25mg (for dizziness and vertigo), and Clonazapam 0.5mg (for dizziness, vertigo.)  The moment I feel something weird is happening, I quickly take all 3.  I chew them all so that they'll work more quickly.  It took me a long time to find a nausea pill that worked for me, and worked quickly...For me, it's the most important ingredient in the recipe.

      Hope this helps!!

      Take good care,

I was going to Memphis have profusion's done but having really good results with 4 days of betahistmine. Ringing has gone done 60 percent and fullness about 40 . Know if I can start getting thorough damage.

Will you be going forward with the steroid injections/perfusions?  That's the thing that will reduce the vertigo.  But again, congratulations!! It too seldom that we have something to celebrate!!

Yes and now that the pressure is down in your ear I would like to recommend that you take some ear buds , or ear plug when your out and about. That ear will be super sensitive to sound and can make you have a episode or headache. You should be fine in a quiet place but just pop that ear bud in and people will think your listening to music. Just heads up smile congrats
