Worse migraines on topamax?

Hi, Im just wondering any worse headaches and migraines on topamax on any dose high or low? ( have daily chronic headaches absolutely NO respite at all and bi-daily debilitating migraines- with some weird fizzing that I have recently noticed, from topamax? and a very high sensitivity to light (fluorescent) that has gotten VERY bad since december)

Some of my info- Ive been on topamax since december basically on a steadily increasing dose, I'm now on 150mg, in the morning and another 150mg at night (so 300mg in total, aiming to go up to 400mg) I went up to this dose from a total of 200mg only a couple of days ago. However I was just wondering if anyone had had worse headaches and migraines on these meds? because I'm having a sneaking suspicion this may be the case for me, Im all for giving new meds the proper amount of time to see if they will work but topamax has so far made absolute no difference and my migraines have been appalling, I'm having at least 3 fully debilitating ones a week whereas previous to being on it i would maybe have debilitating 'need my bed' one a week with then just moderately-bad uncomfortable ones every day after that(obviously still horrific but yeah!), however since being on the topamax i have had to stop all analgesics to make sure i wasn't getting any medication overuse headaches so my worsening condition could be because i am unable to take painkillers. Anyway sorry, the point is, any worse headaches on topamax?

Thanks for reading

Hi Ellie, I've tried these twice now and they made no difference at all, and in fact gave me headaches, made my fizzy drinks taste flat, and gave me pins and needles.

what I'm finding is most of the mess we are given kinda make me either grumpy, tired or dopey. The best ever treatment I ever received was methysurgide, it was so good my chronic dailies ended for 6 months with 1 immigran in the period, normally imtake 12 a month easy. This medication is,now discontinued but I do have one box left which I'm slowly taking and I'm fine at the moment. My nerologist said they may be produced again but is unsure yet, I'm now down for Botox and some blood pressure tablet from germeny.

one think I could say is try 5HTP the herbal tablet,

my headaches start on a morning I get up with a semi thick head which In turn generates into a headache or migraine immigran solves it most of the time, the 5HTP was a weird one, I took 3 with my supper and in the morning my head felt a lot clearer , I'm not a GP so please just check before you do obviously..

but in answer to your question, never worked for me so I stopped them.

The normal stuff they try you on are

Gabapentin. Didn't work for me gave me headaches.

pizotifen, terrible tablet made me grumpy as he'll hard to live with and you eat the fridge

beta blockers, long time ago for me but didn't work.

amatriptolyne made me dopy gave me headache.

botox take at least 2 treatments before you notice it, can you tell me how your headaches come on? Are u like me a slow dull thudding all day that either fades away or most likely develops into a migraine or bad headache?
