Would MRI detect bowel cancer? Worried sick

So for the past year I’ve been having a pain low down on my left side. I’ve explored this as pain in my ovary as I’ve had endometriosis in the past. I’ve undergone various test worrying that it’s cancer.

I recently had an MRI scan and the specialist said that no endometriosis was detected and that it could be a symptom on IBS. My question is would this MRI detect cancers in the bowel?

I’ve got a colonoscopy in a week and I worried sick that I’m going to find out the worst news.

FYI - I’m a 23 yr old female that is classed as healthy

Good that you're having the colonoscopy. You seem too young to have developed bowel cancer though. Keep us posted with your progress and easy to say, but try not to worry! Someone will tell you about MRI scans and what they can detect quite soon. This is a great site for advice and information.

HI, I had a pain, left side, low down, turns out a had a KIDNEY STONE! which has since been removed and the pain has gone.

your pain can come from lots of other thing, but it's good your having a colonoscopy , it will put your mind at rest. Good Luck.

Generally no, unless it is a very advanced tumor. The only way to really diagnose bowel cancer is with a colonoscopy. It is rare for a 23 year old to get bowel cancer. What makes you worry about it? Do you have a family history or any risk factors?
