Would visiting a different be any use for tonsil problems?

Would it be worth going for a dental checkup and mentioning a tonsil issue? (Painless suddenly enlarged or swollen tonsil only on one side) Would a dentist be able to refer to me to the right place? I have no idea where to go with this since it's not possible to see my GP and the nurse practitioners weren't able to help beyond suggesting the cause wasn't infection

if you have access to an ear, nose and throat specialist, sometimes called ENT or otolaryngologist that is who would probably best help you.
