Would you know if you dislocated your new hip?

Morning Gang :-)

I was wondering if you would know about a dislocated prosthetic or not. I gave myself a scare yesterday and was really quite shaken. My own stupidity as I tried to get off the chair in a pre-op manner (breaking the 90 degree rule) as I had momentarily forgotten about the surgery! Thankfull all appears to be OK. But, it got the old grey cells working...

I am sorry if there is a thread regarding this, but I could not find it and would be happy to be shown the way.

    Good morning Michael,

I Just read the discussions - love this forum and everyone here ---- things are discussed with honesty and humor at some point - verything put back in perspective -

I had a similar incident abou 8 weeks p.o from 2 nd THR - Happened when I got out of the car (as a passenger) and forgot to take my operated leg with me ...

Good Lord ..... I had just gotten the clearance of restrictions from surgeon ! I felt so stupid !!!!   PPosted it right away, embaressed and worried  and , like now, we have all done that ... well, not all of course -

    Big warm hug

      Good Morning Renee

It is reassuring to know that I am not alone in the "I felt so stupid" catagory.

Yes, this is a great forum and I tell everyone about the general web site as it is a "must" for everyone.

Your line: "forgot to take my operated leg with me" will stay with me for a long time - ha ha ha. ooops, I mean, I am glad it was heeling so well that....

Today is going to be another great day.

      Big warm hugs

      Michael

I didn't do anything silly smile I was downright pig-headed and stupid smile. Told my lovely partner to stay where he was until I got back, climbed a huge hill in a wood couldn't get out at the top, had to shout for help, partner couldn't hear me but luckily there was a couple of walkers passing who couldn't believe that a few weeks before I had had a hip replacement and climbed this hill.smile They said they would never have tackled it and they were avid walkers. They took me back to my partner and guess what I never left him again smilesmilesmile Never felt so stupid in all my life. Love Gill xx

I have to say there will be probably be a few more moments ahead too, it seems to me the more confident we feel the more likely we are to create a problem!

I for one forgot to walk down the stairs properly this morning, can you believe it, I simply 'forgot' I had had a hip replacement and started walking as I always do, the crutch go caught up I forgot I was holding it, I was going too fast....head not on the job at hand.. so easily done. Stopped short when I nearly slipped and thought how the hell did I just do that? It is a split second. Face started to burn as I realised the endless posssibilities....but hey we are all still here and still in one piece smile It is hard to be careful 247! I am looking forward to the day it is not the first and last thing I think of each day x

That is so funny. Lucky you were rescued. I can see me doing exactly the same thing. Is it not strange how we can dig our heels in like that.

Thank goodness it passed without any trouble! It does shake ones confidence though. x
