Could just get the nurse at your local GP surgery to take a look if concerned.

I am 4.5 weeks TKR and two of mine on lowest area are still scabbed and tender. One of them bled a bit yesterday so I called my joint care nurse. She said if there was no heat and only slight bleeding it was fine. She did say to keep an eye on it and be sure it was elevated and iced. Good luck!!!

Two of the absorbable stitches gradually rose up to the top of my incision 8-10 weeks post op after most of the incision had healed, and formed a tiny blister, then I could see some white and the stitch. The first time it happened, my PT knew what it was and removed the bit of suture with a suture removal tweezer. There wasn't any redness, a little bleeding and it cleared up and healed. Keep aware for any signs of infection and ask your doctor if in doubt.

It will be fine Ruth, it would be ready to come off anyway at around this point, and the bend just loosened it enough to come off, it will be vary surface bleeding, the deeper wound stitches will have healed quite well by now, all the bending you have been doing has already tested the strength of the stitches.

Let the air get to it and it will soon dry up.

You normally aren't cut to the bone so obviously this is different than a little cut. 4 weeks and the incision all but completely healed is about normal. Don't apply anything to the incision until this last little bit is healed completely. The last thing you want is an infection

I had 5 or 6 bleeding spots once my staples were taken out. I was advised to keep it dry and covered and if it became hot or weepy then to contact hospital. It didn’t; I only kept it covered in bed to ensure bedding didn’t catch it. I let the air get to it during the day and it scanned over. I waited until all scabs came off and then used E45 cream 5 or 6 times a day, especially when it felt tight. It really helped.

I still have some deep scab left at the very top of my scar. I have been told to use moisturiser with Vitmin E oil. Keep an eye out for any infection.

    Good luck with your recovery
