I slammed my hand on my desk and now I have less range of motion with my wrist I can't extend my wrist to outwards as much as I could before. Is there anyway to fix this? Is this a common thing?

Hello!
Highly unlikely to be a bone break, more likely a little hyper extension and a sprain - in the tendon/ligament or muscle. Contrary to popular belief these injuries take longer to heal than bones so you will need to rest it for 6-8 weeks with gentle movement and stretching in the last 2-3 weeks.
Take OTC painkillers like ibuprofen and paracetamol if you're in pain and if there is inflammation consider applying a cold pack or ice.
All the best!
