I have recently been advised to wear wrist splints for my CTS, I am having really bad nightmares and wondered if anyone else had experienced this.?

Never heard of this problem before. In my area of the UK (Midlands) no Dr's seem to recommend wrist splints for CTS. I understand that they may stop you bending your wrists during the night and therefore constricting blood flow, nerves to the hand and fingers; but as I never tried them and have not even read about causing nightmares I doubt that they really are the cause. Can you maybe not put them on so tight for a few nights, so they only restrict wrist movement a bit.

    Good luck

Thanks for the message. Nightmares didn't last long thankfully. I think I may have had the splints on too tight.

Hi, I'm Christine. I was 13 when I was diagnosed with CTS. I'm 14 now. I know CTS isn't a big deal compared to other things but it is scary to me because you do everything with your hands. The worst part, in my opinion, is not being able to do simple everyday things. I have to switch hands when brushing my teeth, brushing my hair etc... and I feel useless every time I ask someone to do something for me. I have to wear splints at night and during the day. I haven't had nightmares, maybe your splints are on too tight? But around 3 in the morning, my hand really hurts and wakes me up.

I've just had surgeries on both wrists.  It helped rest the hands and wrists, but it does start to hurt again during the next day.  I still wear the splints at night to help me heal, and rest my weak hands.  Hoping to get better soon, may take over a year...

I was advised to use splints too. I thought by wearing them I would avoid surgery but they didn't. I went through surgery for both hands. Has been one year. All was well until I went back to work a few days ago.
