X-ray shows Femur break not healing.

Had pain in my hip 4 months after dislocation so had an xray which shows that when my femur was broken during the hip op it isnt healing. My doctor is writing to my surgeon to see what he wants to do. Im now getting pain in my knee, unable to put weight on it. Will this be coming from the femur too? My knees have been replaced twice.

How long ago was your op debbie? How did you dislocate? Did you know the femur was broken during the op? Were you non weight bearing for 12 weeks afterwards? Are you using crutches now? Sorry for all the questions. The pain in your knee could well be referred pain from your hip. I hope you get to see your consultant soon to get this sorted out.

    Best wishes

      Hi Ann,

I had my right hip revision operation end of August. Things were going well and then 4th October i must have rolled over onto my side in bed and crossed my legs and when i woke i couldnt move. They put it back in but said its bending my knee that did it so had to wear a knee brace for many weeks. The surgeon told me about the Femur break the evening after my op. I am on 2 crutches all the time since my knee became sore. I have suffered from RA since i was 2yrs old and had nearly every joint replaced, some twice! This has never happened before. My GP days the Femur is not healing so maybe pain is coming from that? I will wait to see what my consultant thinks. In the meantime i will just rest that leg as much as possible.

      Kind regards.

So sorry to read of the dislocation and the fracture. I had a similar type injury. It's good to stay off the leg use your walker/ cane and pain meds/ Tylenol as needed until you hear back from the doctor should be soon. Ice the area and rest. It's at risk to further damage to the hip area & hip components . No bending lifting well you know the drill. If your have any increase in pain go to ER.

I hope you'll see your dr soon it's very concerning during waiting to hear from the surgeon . I want to assure you that it will get better. Your Doctors will do everything they can to help treat the area and get you back on the road to recovery.
