Xeljanx XR

Anyone here taking Xeljanx XR? I had to stop taking it for 17 days due to eye infections. It seemed like the Xeljanx was really working but now I am in pain again and it's been over a month since I restarted it. Does anyone here have any experience with stopping and restarting Xeljanx?? I'm praying it starts working again because I am so sick of shots. I have an apt next week to get a cortisone shot in my shoulder, I can barely use my right arm.

Hi River, is Xeljanx an oral Biologic?

?I once had to stop Humira and Methotrexate due to a low white cell count and had quite a nasty flare up. When I restarted them after about a month (with a slightly lower dose of Mtx) I never did get the same relief. I hope I'm not leading you up the garden path. Hope you get your shoulder sorted soon. Nasty, horrible pain. We never really think about these joints and how much we use them till something like this happens, do we? Very best wishes. Carol

It's a Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor, I don't think they classify it with biologics.

Yes, I read that. It inhibits something else???

Yes, it's all very clever stuff. Far too clever for me.

?I'm a specialist registered nurse and worked in cardiology all my working life (I retired two years ago) and the more I learnt the more I came to realise just how much more there is to learn which is why I tend to write about my personal experience rather than get too clever. It may be interesting to note though that I certainly didn't get the same benefits after stopping and restarting my anti TNF drug. Hopefully others may throw some light on the situation. I don't know if you're in the UK but there's (limited ) information on the NICE website (TA480) Best wishes. Carol
