Well the Xmas season has fell upon us what will be the safe or ideal limit of alchol for someone with 31% kidney function

    I had been told 2 beers or 2 shots. Essentially you don't want to drink more than your liver can handle and then your kidneys have to deal with it.

    Unfortunatly not much. No where near as much as id like to drink lol.

    Have a good xmas though.

    My hubby offered me a glass of wine at dinner time today and much as I would have liked to accept, ​I really don't feel it's a good idea to make my sole kidney work any hard than it already has to.

    I had my right kidney removed approx 7 weeks ago. I have not been given any advice from my consultant in regards to drinking. However, as I want to keep my remaining kidney intact for as long as my heart keeps beating I am self-imposing an almost teetotal ban.

    I may have one or two very small drinks over the festive period (not sure yet)...

    I'm erring on the side of caution not trying to sound like a sanctimonious old git.
