YAG Results

I had cataract surgery for my right eye only about 3.5 years ago with a Tecnis toric monofocal IOL. Vision in this eye has been good for distance about 20/25 uncorrected (20/20 or better with glasses for correcting small residual astigmatism) up until the past several months when it got more and more cloudy. This reduced my best corrected vision in that eye to 20/60 or worse recently. So my eye doctor confirmed it was caused by PCO.

I got thru the YAG procedure on my right eye yesterday. The doctor told me he used the cross method and 11 spots with the laser. Took over 8 hours for the dilation to wear off and then my vision in my right eye was clear again and back to 20/25 uncorrected and 20/20 or better with glasses. I had one floater appear for a few hours but then it disappeared and all day today no noticeable floaters!

Have appointment in two weeks for followup check.

FYI, the clinic with my doctor and ophthalmologist was part of the one that got hit by a ransomware/cyberattack a little over a week ago and all their computer systems are still down, the doctor and staff had to write everything down by hand without the computer network...

    1. What about your dysphotopsia after Yag?
    2. Did you have a myopic shift with PCO. I have it. Although my distance vision is blurry due to PCO, I started to see close-up when it appeared.

      1. I haven't noticed any dysphotoposia.

      2. My vision with PCO just got very cloudy, blurry at all distances. After YAG back to sharp focus, uncorrected for distance and simple reading glasses for near and intermediate.

You didn't have Positive Dysphotopsia before pco?

I used to have a small arc of light visible at night around some light sources when my eye's pupil was at its largest, would go away if I made my pupil get a little smaller. I haven't seen this since the YAG but it might have gone away before that since as you age the pupil doesn't get as large. But in any case it seems to be gone now.

It sounds like you had a very good outcome, even without the help of computers!

Fortunately the YAG equipment didn't require computer network connection, it was controlled manually!

Hi Night Hawk - happy for you that the YAG went well and your vision is back to wear it was.

    How is your other eye?

    All the best!

      Thanks!

My other (left) eye is still the same, no cataract effects noticeable yet since it can still correct with eyeglasses to better than 20/20. Probably be years before I need surgery for that eye.
