Hopefully you'll return to normal now.  Just be sure to keep a watch on the heart.  When I was switched from 5 to 10 mg I got the heart palpitations and it evolved into aFib.

Thanks for replying Cpwood ,after reading some of problems of other peoples on the forum , Mostly about stomach , i am now convinced Amlodipine causes  Crohns ,to which my consultant says is not atributed to Amlodipine, So have to take Mesalazine to dampen down inflamation ,

(tv show trust me i'm a doctor) errr i'm having my doubts ,lol

Me too, Anthony. I'm a former nurse and I'd stopped trusting many of them by year 3 of my training!

In mitigation, however, I have to say I've had several excellent GPs - though I haven't so far found a single specialist I'd trust as far as I could throw him/her. My current GP is the best of all, and insists on managing my borderline-high BP conservatively. I'm confident that if/when it comes to needing medication, we'll be able to discuss it calmly as two equally intelligent, responsible adults.

Among the specialists I've seen, there was the orthopaedic consultant who told me at the age of 22 that I should consider a hip replacement for my mild congenital hip deformity. He said that if I didn't I'd be in a wheelchair by the time I was 40. Fortunately I was already a third-year student by then, so knew better than to trust him. This was in the mid-60s, when they were still using steel hip replacements which were known to have a maximum lifespan of 10 years! I passed on that one, still have both my natural hips at age 73 (albeit one getting creaky) and can walk for about an hour on most days. Depending on how long I last, I might well need a replacement eventually - but it would be an entirely different story now, with modern techniques and materials.

I'm not advising people to ignore their doctors' advice. However, in these days of the internet it doesn't hurt to get a "second opinion" from Dr. Google, as long as you're visiting reputable medical sites (like the one you mention in your original post). Best to stay clear of the "wellness" sites, which can contain some weird, near-delusional stuff.

I hope the withdrawal of amlopidine brings you better health.

Hi I am new to this to just joined today but was interested in the effects you had with amlodipine. I also have been taking it for years and am having a few problems with it but I missed taking it for 2days and felt better. I also recently changed my diet a little and added home made smoothies (not shop bought) which seems to help with the BP so maybe you could try that and see if it works for you to.

Hi Anthony - I have been off Amlodipine for 29 days now.  The first week I felt noticeably better... ankle swelling went down, tingling in all extremities was considerably less, didn't feel so foggy and spaced out and felt the overall dread & despair had lifted, the flushing had dissipated.  Two weeks later I had to go to Urgent Care because  I had such severe pain in my leg that started in my calf and travelled up to my knee that I was convinced I was having a blood clot. I have had headaches, not as many as when I was on Amlodipine, but still some, have felt extremely anxious at times, now, again feeling "pins & needles" in my hands & severe stiffness in my hands. Left shoulder hurts and I can just start having random bone aches wherever.  I feel so defeated, because I thought I was going to finally get my life back after taking Amlodipine 5 ml for over 5 years, Amlodipine 10 ml for 22 days.  I am still taking Avalide  300 mg / 25 mg, but completely off the Amlodipine -  I think you and I have been off the Amlodipine roughly about the same time...just wondering if you are still experiencing side effects and if anybody is out there that can shed some light on this, I would really appreciate it - I just want my life back!  Feeling so depressed!!!

Hi debra ,,I still have pins & needles in feet ,plus calf muscles ache, Circulation in Ankles is bad , but i to have had pains in my shoulder like you, but doc said it was Brachial plexus nerve from 5/6/7 disc in neck and it runs down your arm left side , I have my own theory though i am on Simvastin ,Just  might be me but i think it just might the Statin  that causes Creatine kinasse that statin plays avoc with Well according to Dr GOOGLE ,Even when you read instructions on leaflet with Amlodipine it says could cause major probplems when taking statins ,I have just GOOGLED AVALIDE that also causes Major adverse affects when on Amlodipine , Well according to DRUGS .com.,,Don't get Depressed the more of us talk about it the more some thing just might get done. Good luck Debra

Hi Anthony - Ahh thanks for getting back to me - I guess it's re-assuring to hear that you are still having side effects even being off Amlodipine - at least I am not going crazy, started to think I am just turning into a hypochondriac & imagining all these things because when I tell people that I am off the drug, but still having all these weird symptoms, they think I am nuts. I never even thought to look at the interaction between AVALIDE & AMLODIPINE....oh geez! Why on earth would my Dr prescribe the two together if they have an interaction? I took 2 baby aspirins today and felt very flushed in my face after I took it & looked up that there is a moderate interaction between Avalide & aspirin.  Ok, this is getting crazy.  I think my body is just reacting to everything...Egads! There just has to be a better way - Thanks for responding Anthony, makes me feel a little better...just hope these symptoms aren't permanent -
