Yeast infection

Hi guys. I'm a 25 year old guy. I've been struggling with this condition for a year now. I've tried different antiinflammatory and regenerative creams but without any effect. For the past year I've had these little cuts on my penis (first link, barely visible), they didn't change in size, they only hurt after sex when they "open"(I have a girlfriend for 3 years now). The little red dots on the head of my penis are there sometimes, sometimes they disappear. I have no symptomps at all (no pain, not ichy, no discharge) except the pain after sex when those little lesions open up. Been tested for HIV and Syphilis (negative both). I've never had any serious conditions, I don't smoke, etc.

Could this be a yeast infection? (candida)

Any ideas?

... does your partner have a yeast infection? this would be the typical cause... typically uncommon for circumcised males. i can see the dry / flaky skin.

Yes she sometimes (when she is stressed or her immune system is a bit weaker for some reason) has the symptoms of candida infection (pain while urinating, itching) and then she takes an antifungal pill and everything goes back to normal.

do you happen to have cloudy urine or does it have particles? this is pretty common for a yeast infection.

i have seen some yeast infection images that look like yours, and it also looks like balanitis.  if your partner has consistent recurring yeast infections then i would start here in your discussion with your doctor. there are topical that you can use, need to see a doctor that can help and oral pills as well - if it is serious.

So females are very prone to yeast infections and even as a circumcised male in a healthy monogamous relationship can get them- I've treated tons of them. The only way you can get rid of this is if your partner and you abstain from sex until both of you are free of the affliction. This can be serious for your partner because the female anatomy, being ap prone to this, can become sterile after so long of having this. Considering you said you've had this issue for over a year your partner has had it as well(if you've had a constant sexual interactions)

    I see two options

#1 go see a doctor and be treated at the same time

#2 both go to your local Walmart or pharmacy and go to the womens section. They should have something that says "vaginal yeast". This can be used for your partner as well as yourself. Dont let the "womens' " part fool you. You both have homogeneous genitalia- meaning your genitals used to be a vagina when you were in the uterus and then turned into a penis. What I mean by this is that this medication should work for you as well.

If you are washing with soap you need to stop. Your body has bacteria that keep the "bad" bacteria away. When you wash with soap you get rid of a lot of essential bacteria and this can leave you more prone to infections like this. Simply wash with running water and rub every surface of your glans

( d******d) with your fingers. Do this in conjunction with medications and condom use /abstinence : your body does the rest. Make sure your partner isnt using soap on her genitals as it can pose the same issue.

    Thanks guys for the advice.

My girlfriend does not always have the symptoms that's for sure, only in times when she is stressed the symptoms appear and then she takes 1 oral antifungal drug and the symptoms disappear. She said her mother has the same issue sometimes. I think this is because we have yeast cells normally in our system but in certain situations (stress) the cells can multiply, then the symptoms appear.

My question is, is this a problem? Isn't this normal? Does she need to treat it properly? I mean not just taking only 1 pill that relieve the symptoms but to go with the treatment for several days? While we've been in a relationship, she has been in this situation like 2-3 times, every time treating the symptoms with 1 pill. And we've had constant unprotected sex meanwhile.

By the way I went to test my penis for bacteria and fungi, and the results came yesterday: Streptococcus beta hemolytic group B and Candida spp. (moderate culture). This means that I DO HAVE Candida, but why only in moderate amounts if it's there for a year atleast? Maybe this is the reason for me having no symptoms while yeast infections usually have symptoms?

I see that streptococcus group B can also cause balanitis. We've had unprotected oral and vaginal sex 24 hours before I went for testing. I washed my penis after we've had sex and then I stopped washing it until I went for the testing. Could that alter the results?

I mean having sex could alter the results 24 hours after?

steven1732: I don't see any problems with my urine, altough I urinate a lot of times a day.

Many things can cause balanitis, and yes, I have read that strep B can as well. Group B strep bacteria may come and go in people’s bodies without symptoms, so this may not actually be the cause.

What you are saying about your girlfriend makes sense. There is a normal level of yeast in the body and a weak immune system, maybe based on stress or other autoimmune issues, can cause an overgrowth of yeast in the body. Therefore the pill she is taking will kill the overgrowth and put her body back in balance. This is logical and makes sense.

There are many people that claim that a better diet with low sugar can help this issue (search for the candida diet). Probiotics are also thought to really help. I would not define the situation as normal (meaning that a large percentage of the population deals with it).. but it does seem like a more common issue that people complain about. I am certainly no expert however - just sharing my thoughts.

I'm not sure what you mean about having no symptoms. You seem to indicate symptoms based on your rash and more constant urination - both common with yeast.

Thank you. By no symptoms I mean that except those little cuts on the foreskin which don't want to heal somehow, I have no pain while urinating, no ithcing, no discharge, basically I don't have any of the usual symptoms of yeast infection, while my results came back positive for Candida spp.

Have you been checked for lichens sclerosis? The colouring of your head indicates it could be?

Nope. But I don't really think it could be lichens.

I would go to a local GUM and ask. I was recently diagnosed too.
