Yeast infection sore? or Herpes Sore?

Posted , 3 users are following.

I was diagnosed with Candida in 2018. Had sores on both sides of my vulva. GP prescribed cream. Sores went away for 2 years but has recently made a come back. Yeast infections have been recurring every 3 months or so since 2020. I was in denial that it may have been something other than a yeast infection. Was able to take 2 pictures. Will go get a swab if/when sores show up again, but would like to know what you all think? Are these herpes lesions?

Thank you to anyone who may reply.

hi, have you been tested for BV as well ? it could be BV . if you get another test and it should pick up the antibodies of the herpes virus if it is. Also some yeast infection and BV can be severe enough to give you lesions. Are these on your labia or vulva ? little hard to tell.

Hi Kelly, I really appreciate you taking the time to read my post and go over the pic.. No, I have never been tested for BV, as I assumed it was YI. Do you know how accurate a blood test for HSV1/2 is?

These are on my labia majora.

I'll get tested for BV and get a blood test for HSV1and2.

      tysm kelly...

Honestly i would get a full panel test if possible. Couple things to not is that you had some type of sores several years ago. This could have been just a severe yeast infection and went away. It has now came back and you have had several YI already which is indicating there is a problem/infection. Blood test are accurate if you have been exposed to the virus already and your immune system has started to build antibodies for it. If it is a new exposure it will not pick it up mainly swab will be the only method to confirm the virus is present. Could you post another pic that shows the sores and the general area a little better. Is your discharge thick and milky with a unpleasant smell to it ?

A full panel test, okay i'll keep that in mind.. Based on the info you've shared with me, I guess the blood test will do me some good, and shed some light on what I have.

Unfortunately (and fortunately) I have no sores rn. I noticed that they clear up right before my period.. The labia looks, for lack of a better word, normal.. but when I do get the sores there's a white mucusy discharge that sometimes smells fishy and sometimes, has no smell that shows up along with it..

As there are no GUM clinics in Asia, or at least where I live, do you recommend I go to my OB? Labs here do not allow testing without requests from at least a GP...

Thank you, Kelly. You're a godsend.

Yes OB would be best and at the time you have the sores. Only at the time you have the sores and the discharge or else they dismiss it as nothing unusual as is the case sometimes and could be frustrating . I hope what you mean as normal would be your normal texture and clear of anything discomforting...If your discharge is on the fishy smelly side than i would lean heavily on BV. This is know for some women to right and at times difficult to clear and will need antibiotics.

I'm half praying that the sores don't ever show up again, but if/when they do, i'll have a better handle on the situation, thanks to your advice. Yes that is what I mean by normal, no lumps, bumps, sores, nor itchy parts but there is a yellowish discharge.. mucusy, no smell I read that this may be related to my incoming period?

BV isn't any better then, is it?

Having a vagina is tough work..

Hahaha you said it girl !! yes BV is not better but more worse as it's harder to clear. Sometimes needs antibiotics to clear. Hopefully they dont show up again. Yes discharge can vary when you period is coming. keep us posted for any update.
