yellow diarrhea (nice title)

I feel like I am on here all day.

I have already posted that I had my gall bladder out over two weeks ago and each day is a new adventure. (not a happy one).  After a week of yuck - a functional doctor told me to take ox bile and digestive enzymes with every meal and all was ok but now ( 2 days later ) I have yellow watery diarrhea with tons of cramping.  I don't want to use medication to control this as I have been trying to rid my body of all the other toxins.

i also was told to take Vitamin D, omega 3 and vitamin c

Should i just back off on the supplements - I think I am putting my body through the wringer right now.

eek

What has helped anyone out there feel better.  The best thing for me has been the support here.  it is nice to know that I am not alone and I think my family is sick of hearing my woes.  I have never been so "complainy" in my life and I hate it

The yellow wateriness is caused by bile so I'd lay off taking anymore bile. I'm day 12 post-op and apart from niggles in my stomach and wounds feel amazing. I've not taken any supplements at all (know they do help some people), have continued to eat quite safe foods and drink plenty fluids too. Would come off all those extra tablets and give your body a chance to settle. Hope you feel better soon! xx

Thanks Scottie13 - Has been this harder then you thought it would be.

We are pretty much neck and neck ( I am at day 15 )  .

I hate this - wish i could just have a good day

Anything that you have found helped

Think because I had almost constant pain and nausea for 6-7 weeks before getting the gallbladder out, I feel better for it. And because I only got my appendix out last year, had a good idea of the pain post-op.

Hopefully when your body gets a rest from the additional tablets you've been taking you'll start to feel better. Have been told about eating high fibre foods too so maybe an idea to do that and see if it helps? xx

I had problems with diarrhoea too. It began about two weeks after surgery. I'm now nine weeks post op.

My surgeon was excellent. He prescribed me cholestyramine, otherwise known as Questran light. Within two or three days the diarrhoea had stopped, it also helped my nausea too. I was told that it rarely lasts but one woman did reply to me saying years on, she still has problems if she stops the cholestyramine.

Its certainly horrible living with diarrhoea, so the cholestyramine is worth a go.

I understand how you feel. I was despairing of ever feeling well again. I had constant nausea and also diarrhoea. But I'm feeling almost normal again. Some people have no problems at all but others seem to suffer badly, excess bile is definitely the cause. Hope it settles.

I am glad to hear you are feeling better - it is so helpful to hear other people talk about this.

If I can feel better in a few weeks then I am all good

Well, Betsy, I think you should just back of the supplements.  The functional doctor assumed you needed more digestive enzymes and ox bile.  What you have already got is excess bile.   There is no way to control it except by diet, low fat, low sugar, plenty of water. Small frequent meals. And consuming more fiber to absorb the bile.  Medication could help you.

I'm not sure I understand you--bile is not a toxin, it's a natural component of the digestive process.  You just have too much of it.
