Yesterday my throat and chest started hurting..

And today when I woke up, I literally couldn't breathe. I started coughing to make everything loosen up, but then I coughed too hard and started throwing up, and now, it's kind of hard to breathe. It feels like there are clouds in my chest, but when I cough, it's feels like bricks, and hurts my throat even more. Just a regular cold or something a little more serious? Please help me understand what's going on. Thank you.

Hi there, I've had a similar experience recently actually but no diagnosis.

Is your throat swollen at all? Is there any pus/white patches?

I know at this time of year a lot of viruses are going around but it's worth getting checked. And if it's not anything to worry about at least you'll get some pain relief.

If your throats swollen it can give you the sensation you need to cough so check your tonsils and glands beneath your neck to see if there's swelling.

Have you any other symptoms too such as tiredness, headaches, fever etc?

Yeah, I'm going to the clinic today. 😊

I haven't checked, but I'll check right now. And, I have been tired, but I'm scared to go back to sleep because I don't want to wake up feeling like I'm drowning. As for headaches & fevers, nope! I'm really happy about that.

So, I don't have asthma, or pneumonia, but every time I cough, phlegm comes up and takes my breath away for a good while, is that normal?

Sorry, I ask all these questions because I've never had anything wrong with my chest like this before. 😥

Is the phlegm clear or is it coloured? It sounds a bit like a chest infection. It's good youre going to the clinic. smile

I would be asking loads of questions too if i couldn't breathe properly aha.

Hopefully they can sort it out for you quickly with antibiotics or that. x

The phlegm is like a greenish color.

I sound like a wounded dog every time I take a breath, lol.

But, thank you so much for helping me, I realy appreciate it! 😊

It could be that then, hopefully they'll be able to tell you if it's an infection or viral.

Hope you feel better soon! Glad I could help a little aha, good luck at the clinic. smile

Hi Hyydranell, green sounds good!  I'm glad you're going to the clinic today because it does sound like an infection.

Let us know how you get on and good luck!

Well, I went to the clinic, they said it wasn't an infection, I forget what else they said because I was in a lot of pain, but with the help of two breathing treatments and an inhaler, I am doing much better.
