Zeiss Lisa lens in wrong position

Posted , 5 users are following.

?After first privately paid cataract operation at Woodlands Hospital in Darlington  UK with Zeiss Lisa multifocal lens, my vision was blurred. My surgeon blamed a dry eye condition but 5 weeks later he did a second operation to relocate the lens. Again continued blurred vision and after several months, the surgeon now says that he can do nothing except suggest spectacles or laser treatment by others.

My  vision is now far worse than before the operation and this has seriously affected my private life and hobbies.

Another surgeon in France said that the lens should have been removed after the 5 week period and that the surgeon should have taken notice of the blurred vision and acted sooner.

?Now too late to remove lens as eye has apparently grown or accepted the lens and damage likely if try to remove.

?An operation one week after the first operation on the other eye was successful with clear vision almost at once.

Has anyone any comments please?

So sorry to hear this. I do not know first hand but from reading thought an exchange could be done within 6 months or is because the surgeon tried to rotate lens that affected being able to have lens exchange? Perhaps getting a few specialists to examine your eye might yield some solutions.

I think anything to do with being left with problems with the eyes is absolutely  devasting and is really hard to recover from emotionally and psychologically.  You are left feeling abused.  I would imagine that a different surgeon did your second eye.

I do hope you fine a solution.

Thanks - am awaiting trial of glasses and then perhaps consider laser. Initially this original surgeon said that he could deliberately damage the incorrectly seated IOL (lens) with a laser. Then changed his mind and said that minor incisions to alter astigmatic eye shape would help. Now again he has changed his mind and washed his hands of any remedial work.

Sorry to learn about the vision issue which are having after the cataract surgery and the associated IOL. It seems like the surgeon did not do a good job.

Any way, all you can do at this stage is to figure out your best option to correct the vision in that eye. What is your best corrected vision with glasses and what is the prescription needed to achieve that? That will also give you an idea of what you may be able to achieve with LASIK enhancement, which may be the best option at this time.
