Zeljanz XR and high blood pressure

Anyone have problems with high blood pressure while taking Zeljanz XR? 4 weeks ago I had a procedure done and the systolic number was 179 while the bottom number was normal, 2 wks ago, another procedure and same thing. Yesterday I went to the dentist and they took it , top number is 142. When I got home I got my blood pressure machine out and took my BP at 10:30 pm , it was 148/96 and this morning it is 146/95. I've never had a problem with high bp and I'm not going with that crap that when you get old these things happen.

High BP is listed as a common side effect of xeljance.

It doesn't matter why or when it happens - it needs dealing with whatever the cause! Though many drugs have a greater effect on us once we are over 55 than if we were younger!!!!

I guess I think like I'm younger. It's hard to accept these old age problems.

Tell me about it! This fuss about the weather in the UK and telling people to look out for their neighbours who are over 65 is quite depressing!!!!

How old are you, plus height/weight/bmi, your diet, exercise schedule and your genes will usually determine your blood pressure issues.

Sorry to hear about your BP being elevated above normal range.   I am currently on Cimzia and BP remains normal to low as it has been my whole life--I am 70. But when I took Humira my BP spiked  my heart rate spiked and I ran a very low blood sugar level.  It was quite scary  Had to have tons of tests when I knew it was the drug and not something else going on.  They stopped the drug after 3 doses and I started Cimzia and no side effects noted after 1 yr.   I hope your BP goes back down

I would assume it's the drug if nothing else is going on.
