Long time reader but first time poster. This forum has saved me many times reading others stories. I’m currently on 100mg of Zoloft for anxiety. Have used before but I am on those people that stops taking it when I think I feel better. Lesson has been well learnt this time. About 8 weeks ago anxiety hit me like a truck. Intrusive thoughts of doom wouldn’t stop. That feeling of wanting to be sick, on edge for days. Fast forward and I started back on Zoloft.. first 50mg than back to 100mg. I had forgotten how horrible the start up was but after a week most symptoms had gone. About 3 weeks ago I was back to my old self. Loads of energy and just looking forward to like itself however the last few days I have noticed my mood dropping and I am literally petrified it’s all coming back again. I am not sure I could handle it again. It’s not as bad as before but can feel it in the background. Any advice?

You may consider speaking with your doctor about increasing your dose. I also started on 50 back in April and have slowly moved up to my current dose of 150. What I learned is that 100 is still considered a small dose of Zoloft. I felt good for a few weeks when I was on the 100 dose then I had to go out of town for a week for work and that week was awful with anxiety and not sleeping. I've been on the 150 now for about 4 weeks and this seems to be the right dose for me at the moment. I have occasional moments where I feel what I call "on edge" but I'm able to move past it when before it would have totally derailed my day. I felt 150 was too high a dose when my doctor first recommended it but in doing some reading it seems the average dose to help with anxiety and panic is actually closer to 200 mg. I also take Xanax with my Zoloft. Started at 1 mg extended release a day, now down to .5 mg ER a day and will be moving off the Xanax fully over the next 30 to 45 days. Also, if you aren't seeing a counselor regularly I would recommend adding that. The zoloft can help balance brain chemicals but it won't take away the underlying causes of your anxiety. Talk thearpy is a really important component.
