Zoloft and irritability

Hi. Ok I started Zoloft 3 weeks ago 50mg for depression, anxiety and panic. Side affects have sucked! Started out with insomnia, stomach pains and loss of appetite (although I wish the appetite thing would last forever haha). Those have gone away now. But now I have irritability and hostility some days, I'm foggy, feel like I can't concentrate, blurred vision. It's a roller coaster. I have a couple, 2 days where I feel normal again and then boom! These new side affects creep in for a couple of days.

Of course I feel like I'm just going crazy and should check myself in haha, but I know that's not the case. I just want to see if anyone else is experiencing the same issues and how long do I have to wait for these side affects to go away? And will they go away? Will I ever feel normal again? How do you know when to up the dose?

I also want to add that it has definitely helped with my depression!

Thanks!

Hi Lisa if you only started on it 3 weeks ago you are still building it up and it takes at least 4 weeks to reach an even keel but then start to feel normal again more around the 6-8 weeks Mark..I can't say that I suffered irritability but I did get the horrible side effects. They affect us all in different ways. I'm at week 5.5 now and feel tonnes better than when I was in week 3 - I felt like giving up on the tablets so many times but glad I persevered. Stick with it a while longer. The doc wouldn't look to increase till about 4 plus weeks at least. Keep your chin up you will get there

Hey Jessica, I am about the same as you I did 4 days at 25mg now been 9days -at 50mg and I'm really struggling with the side effects. My anxiety seems to be worse, no appetite and just feel quite low and scared I'm not going to get better. Each day feels like an eternity!!

Hi Lisa, I agree with Tracy here, I too suffered with the awful side effects, I'm now at 4 weeks of taking the tablets and feel generally better, still have a shaky feeling sometimes but not as strongly as at 3 weeks.  I'm on 50mg and my dr said not to up it until at least 5 weeks to allow myself time to even out, at the moment I would be happy to stay on 50mg for the time being unless I start to feel anxious or depressed again.  Try to stick with it, I'm glad I did although I almost stopped several times.  Stay strong and positive and give the tablets time to work.x

Thank you Tracy and Linda... I'm going to stick it out. I wish we didn't need these meds.
