Sertaline for 20+ years. Currently on 100 mg daily (have been for 10+ years). Tried weaning off about 2 years ago without success.
Plans: 100mg every other day for 2 months. 50 mg every other day for 2 months. 25 mg every other day for 2 months. Then???????
Pros and Cons of my plans?

I was on co codamol but not high levels only 4 a day and I just bit the bullet, had an awful two weeks, felt horrible, isolated, fever, loose bowels, no highs only extreme lows, I came through it and introduced setraline maybe I shouldnt but I feel the mask protection after two weeks but no sexual desire.
Sometimes I think anxiety and depression is felt by everyone and these drugs are not solutions they just better prepare you and cotton wool everything.
Is it a silly question to ask why you want to quit?

Thanks for your reply paddy2801 and the thought provoking questions. I no longer have the high stress job (been gone from there about 1-1/2 years) and my life is simplified tremendously based on the lifestyle I had for so many years. There's really no reason to quit other than if I no longer need it (other than the dependency), I should stop taking it.

Have you tried googling sertraline tapering kits. Apparently these are properly measured decreasing doses. So there's no breaking tabs in half and the decrease is extremely gradual. It's worth a bit of investigating.
Good luck whatever you decide to do. Keep posting and may the force be with you
