Really need some advice...

5 months ago I started having panic attacks which led to derealization, constant anxiety, insomnia and a bit of depression. My doctor put me on Zoloft (Sertraline) 3 weeks ago today. I am on 25mg I take at night with dinner. I have tried to go higher but couldn’t tolerate the side effects yet so dropped back down to 25mg. When I take it, I feel instantly calm. However, I’m waking with my heart pounding through my chest and terrible anxiety/panic for most of the day. I also feel like my depression has become a bit worse since starting it. I don’t know what to do. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi Sara x I’ve read some of you’re replies and it’s all good advice. Unfortunately it takes time to work , in my case about 6 weeks, I take 150mg and have done for a year. Just follow the advice of yr Dr, increasing the dose every 2 to 4 weeks. The feelings you get on the way are normal, they are just thoughts which can’t hurt you.Its the meds settling down and doing it’s job.Try some mindfulness, by concentrating on your breath ,in and out,and let thoughts come and go,because anxiety is your mind overthinking,so acknowledge thoughts and breathe them away.Worry serves no purpose whatsoever. You will feel better soon, keep going, look after yourself, it will certainly pass.sending you hugs, Sara xx

Hi i have just joined this forum about 4hrs ago and have read a lot of stuff, i came on this for 2 things migraines and depression, well as i started having severe migraines over 30 years ago and if you knew what i have been through (could write a book) then i thought anyone would be depressed, but i have only been diagnosed 6 months ago, but a lot has happened i have a lot more health issues, ibs, eating disorder, your probably wondering why i am telling you all this but the moment you tell a doctor the symptoms you have they just want to throw pills at you , i cant tell you how many drugs i am on and how bad i feel ,the newest one , yes you guessed sertraline and i can not tell you how ill i have been and still are, bad migraines and vomiting , now i have to take strong nerofen to ease the migraine, its one vicious circle, so i looked up all the things i was experiencing , the same as yours, and i was shocked i was told i could have DpD , , LOOK THIS UP AD DO THE TEST ON LINE , YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE
