Zolpidem

I have M.E./C.F.S. and Fibromyalgia (20 yrs) I also suffer from panic disorder and insomnia due to pain, anxiety and the illnesses I have. Over the last 3 years life has almost not been worth living. I have felt so ill, I can't find the words to describe just how bad. I have taken various anti-depressants and have been on an off Diazepam since I was 13! I am now 47. What I have alway's wanted was to SLEEP.

I took 5mg of Zolpidem, which did nothing to help at all, so the next evening I took 10mg and I SLEPT for nearly 9 hours, it was better than a win on the lottery!! So for two nights, it has been heaven and I have felt better than I have for years!! I am now dreading not being able to continue with these meds after the 2 weeks. Surely it is better to take 10mg of Zolpidem and sleep, rather than diazepam, up to 30mg, plus trying different TRI's which alway's me feel really ill, as I have been doing for so many years? I have never over-dosed on anything, neither do I wish too, but what I have causes 'insomnia' as the part of your brain which allows natural sleep does not function properly, so your body never has the opportunity to heal it'self.

After these weeks am I to simply to return to the constant insomnia and pain I suffer, why can't I continue to take these for ever? I have also read that after that time they do not work, why? Is there an alternative?

There's always Zopiclone. But getting sleepers out of the doctor is equivalent to getting blood out of a stone.

The times you can get away with less sleep try half a tab, or herbal tabs such as nytol. Tell your doctor that you are only on half a tab, ocassionally a whole one. Perhaps then you may get some more prescribed. I'm also 47, love my sleep, but rarely get a solid 9 hours.

    Good luck.
