Hi! When I hadn't been diagnosed I was experiencing horrific itching and ulcerations which burned. It was bad. I kept being told by unexperienced doctors if it was LS it wouldn't hurt..little did they know. Finally I found one that was semi-familiar with it and was prescribed clobestol. They wanted me to do two weeks on one off, and I saw improvement about a week and a half later. During the week off things got worse again but not as bad as they were to begin with. I saw a dermatologist today and they changed my medication to clobestol in the morning and a protopic in the evening. So far the protopic seems to have made things more itchy so i'm hoping this stops soon. How long have you been on the cream? If you don't see improvement soon maybe go back and ask for clobestol. Also I was given an antihistimine (atarax) for itching which helps but makes me very tired.

Chris, When my gyn diagnosed zoon's, she had no idea what to do. Thankfully, she referred to a specialist at a women's pain clinic (I am in US). She gave me the following instructions before she even met me. It will sound crazy, but IT WORKS (and it's really cheap!).

      1. Never use soap again.

      2. Buy a small container of Crisco vegetable shortening.

      3. Apply the crisco liberally (it will be like magic!) morning and night. Reapply after every urination until tissues heal or as needed. Also, you can get a small spray bottle and fill with water to rinse off urine to reduce burning

      4. Use a hand-held showerhead to rinse your vulvar. Pat or air dry.

      5. After 1 week, take warm baths with 1 cup of bleach added to the water.

Please give this a try. I had immediate relief from the pain.

Hi ladies! I was diagnosed last week after a biopsy that wasn't pleasant. I thought, I wish I had one of those Thailand toilet hoses to wash each time I go to the loo. So I used a jug. Just washing each time you wee certainly has helped incredibly. Which makes me wonder if ural crystals ....you drink them when you have cystitis, would help alkaline wee and not sting so much. But certainly the water wash after each loo trip helps tremendously.  When I'm out I carry a bottle of water in my bag. I agree that the hand held shower is excellent and non soap or none. Only thing I haven't tried is the vege oil.  Bit unsure about the bleach in sitz bath at this point.  Still waiting on the biopsy site to heal properly.

Hello , although this may sound odd, I came across this old fashioned remedy by accident and it work for me. I couldnt bear to urinate as the urine would sting the skin around the area , after trying everything offered to me nothing seem to work, then I found after eating oranges they seem to neutralized the urine which in turn over time stopped the burning and gave me a lot of relief. Everyday I eat an orange and fingers crossed the urine dosent burn the skin. I hope this helps  and dont think its a joke it works for me and it must be large Jaffa oranges .

With reply to your post Dawn I,m not a doctor and mentioned this a few weeks ago . I was told I have this condition. I think the bleeding is caused through having acidic urine I think. I came across this by accident and it works for me. Oranges seem to make my urine less acid so I eat one everyday only one no need to overkill.Creams the consultant has given me help too but when I told him about the orange he didnt comment . Once the acid has stopped burning the skin you stand a chance of getting it to heal good luck.
