    Hi John,

I was was taking this sleep aid for months, stupidly ordering over the internet and taking every night as became very dependant. I quit cold turkey a few years ago and had terrible withdrawal symptoms, ended up in A & E. I'm sure you already know that you should taper the reduction - I think there is some advice opon the Web about how to taper. Terrible drug!

Thankfully after trying just about all the sleep meds available over the years, I have finally learned that no of them help long term. I now just take Magnesium in the mornings and try to relax my mind and reassure myself that it's normal to wake in the night. Overall my sleep is now quite good. Hope this helps x

      Hi,

I really appreciate your comments and quick reply. I have been on z drugs for decades (I'm 54) and up to about 7-10 days ago I went from 15mg a night to zero and now on Pregabalin for insomnia and RLS on direction from specialist sleep doctor. I told her that I thought I had built up a huge tolerance to zops and that they didn't work that well anymore.

As it happens, I also suffer from GAD and so Preglaglin works on that as well apparently.

Hi, I was prescribed Zopiclone last week. Took the lowest dose for one night, slept for two hours and then was up all night. My head didn't clear until the afternoon. I will never take these again. How you will feel when you come off them if you have become used to them, I don't know. But we're you only taking them a max of three nights a week as I was told to do? If so, could you take one night less each week until you are free from them?

      Hi,

I was originally told to take them every night starting at 7.5mg - that was over 12 years ago. I have been on 15mg a night for about 2 years. I question the medics for telling me to stop not taper. But then again, I did tell them that I had developed a big tolerance. Cold turkey has been terrible with rebound insomnia etc.

I would recommend that you don't bother with sleeping pills unless it's critical
