I was first given diazipam in 1994, after having panic attacks , not long after i dont know exact dates i was given 7.5 zopliclone 28 monthly ,with 28 5mg diaz , after about 10 years or more , i was taken from 7.5 down to 3.75smg (56 pills) monthly , 56 diazs also,

2 years i think the diaz was dropped , to 10 2mg pills weekly , by this time i was on weekly script of 28 3.75smg zopiclone , aprox 4 or 5 weeks ago i went to gp over my inhalers , i was told by a gp (locam)

"h was stopping them " ,i explained the length of time i have been on these , how ever he was addamant i would be off them in 3 weeks, i argued , took it to my mental health dr , i said i would give 1 up a night, im finding dropping by 1 quite hard, and wake early , hence making my days longer, im hooked on these, i have even bought from internet, ive reported them, im ust not getting any were , i feel i need longer to get used to this reduction , i wish id never took them in first place x any guidance would be grateful

    Hi Denise

I hear your fear, truly as I felt the same when my GP took me off them after 17 years. This was a nationwide directive as Z drugs were found to be addictive and had been over prescribed. My advice is to bite the bullet. Yes, you will have rebound insomnia and mood swings so be prepared - good books, a repetitive mind numbing task (simple knitting, a colouring book etc). Get prepared for a sleepless night, warm bath, low lighting, lavender oil in a burner. Eat a banana or a turkey sandwich in the evening, not to late and a warm milky drink. Dig out your favourite movies and watch again. You can overcome the need for Zop Drops after all, who or what is in charge??? Denise or some chemicals. I promise you after 2 nights of zero sleep you will sleep like a...... Tree sloth. It's going to take several weeks to 'learn' how to sleep again but it is worth it. To experience real sleep without chemicals is fantastic. Do you have a friend /family member who you can explain what you are doing and why? I hope so as I certainly needed love and understanding
