Zopiclone has an unfair reputation

I have been on zopiclone since my diagnosis of leukaemia in 2008. I have had absolutely no problems apart from having to have them increased. My consultant seemed to work on the basis that a blood condition was bad enough without worrying about sleeping pills and he always gave me a good supply. Now it is the pharmacies that are overriding the doctors/consultant and only allowing 28 days at a time. I have seriously thought about bolstering my supply using the internet, does anyone know a genuine product web site, non-prescription? Anyhow a load of old hype over good old zopiclone it  has kept me ok for the past years. Dave

You don't say which country you live in, but as of two days ago it became illegal to possess Zopiclone without a prescription in the UK. It is now a Class C drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. I don't know how that might affect pharmacies. The drug is only licensed for 28 days use, of course.

Hi Dave.  Like you, i had been taking Zopiclone for many years when all of a sudden my GP called me in for a review and told me no more Zops.  After tapering of for one month, that was it.  I am now taking Phenergan.   I do hope you dont get your supply cut of too, but i think with your condition you  might br ok.  Good lluck.

    Hi David,

You have the right to buy it until as of 10th June it was made a scheduled class C drug - meaning the internet suppliers are no longer permitted to sell it in this country.

This is doing you a big favour, as this was the route that I went down - thinking it was 'ok' when in fact it is highly addictive, you develop tolerance, and then you can't get off it. You may have been lucky, I was not. Get your doc to prescribe something else or transfer you off to something easier to come off!
