Zopiclone stops sweating, why??

Posted , 3 users are following.

Every night my husband sweats A LOT! Changes of bedding and nightware are at least twice a night & up to 4 & NEVER gets a good nights sleep However, if he takes Zopiclone he does not sweat & seems to get around 4/5 hours sleep. Sounds ideal BUT these pills make him iritable, miserable & downright nasty! What is it in Zopiclone that stops the sweating? If I can find the ingredient perhaps it is in another, not so nasty, drug. Any ideas welcomed TIA

Zopiclone slows the central nervous system down especially the Gabba senses, so is probably connected to that some how. In regards to the irritability unfortunately this is a common side effect of taking zopiclone as its similar to a drinking hang over. I suffer with this side effect also and drives my wife up the wall. Zopiclone can make some people depressed so watch for those symptoms. How long has he been taking it for and have you tryed other methods?

Gill, I would wean yourself off zopiclonem, it will probably be rough though. Talk to your doctor about mirtazapine, comes in 15mg to 30 mg. taken before you go to sleep, calms down your system. Been on it a few years and have no side effects. I'm able to sleep, also, I some times take it during the day to help with tension. One thing, if you're prone to any type of seizures, be very careful, it can help cause them. Found a clot in my carotid artery which caused a few strokes which caused a couple seizures. I still take a lower dose of mirtazapine and still sleep like a baby. Good luck, just a suggestion.
