Zopiclone withdrawal after cold turkey

my mum took 7.5mg of zopiclone for 17 days, then began to worry about side effects, she was getting headaches and a head that felt full of cotton wool, couldnt concentrate. so she didnt take zopiclone one night, then 2 nights and the next day woke up with tremors and bad shakes, headache chest pains, paramedics checked her out, said ecg was fine, went to A and E, ecg again was fine, sent us the AEC department, had bloods which were all fine, doctor said take 3.75mg of zopiclone on alternate nights three times to help with the symptoms but she fell asleep without it and woke up at 3am so didnt take it, next night didnt take it, hasnt taken it for 6 nights now but the tremors and shakiness are really bad first thing in the morning and shes shaky all the time and has a really fuzzy achy head, cant concentrate on anything and now is getting tingling in fingertips of left hand, GP offered her diazepam for the shakes but we are worried about her taking something that is surely going to be as addictive as the zopiclone. she has been managing a few hours sleep but is so tired, shes 75 and has atrial fibrillation too and had a stroke 12 months ago. anyone advise on when the tremors and headaches lack of concentration etc will get better?
