Zopiclone Withdrawal - is this normal?

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is normal. I have been on Zopiclone for aboyt 4 years now. My dose was 7.5 but for the last month and a bit i've been taking 3.75. I take the zopiclone along with diazapam, phenergan, zopiclone and mirtazapine. I have been on most of those for four years. I have suffered two serious relapses in that time. I've been back on my feet now for about six months so I thought I would get my dose of zopiclone halved. But I feel ill. I feel sick. My sleep is not restful sleep, I have the most vivid nightmares and I just feel awful. It seems like the last six months have meant nothing as I feel so awful and down. I am studying with the Open Universty and prior to my dose being changed I was on track with it. But since my dose has been changed. I have no desire to do anything? Is this normal, I did not realise that just halving the dose would affect me this badly? Please tell me I am not alone in feeling like this

Iam positive you will feel better soon as I did the same as you last year .and was fine on week six can I ask how much valium your taking cause that can really effect your mood .and also the side effects from mirtazapine can be awful.ect not wanting to go out back pain weight gain depression the list goes on . I've been on heroin cocaine and been clean from that for over 14 years but find it hard to come off zopiclone. Xxx

I take 2mg of diazapam at night and 5mg in the morning before I go to work. But it's getting worse. I finished work today and I was overcome with tiredness I fell asleep straight away. But I'm going to keep bashing through. X

Hi Glen that's the same dose of stuff iam on and I feel like crap.some days I don't want to leave the house .I've got no motivation iam sure it the mirtazapine because I was on the other stuff before mirtazapine and didn't feel this bad.i think I've been on mirtazapine for about 1 year .and there making me more depressed which apparently they can do.cause if you're on half your dose of zopiclone you should be well over withdrawl s .as it hasn't been stopped completely.

I've been on mirtazapine for years now. It's the only anti depressant I don't really have trouble with. I know with zopiclone that the longer you're on it. The longer the withdrawal affects can last. I think it's called rebound symptoms. I've got an appointment with a mental health worker on the first. So I'll bring it up then. Then I've got a GP appointment on the 10th. My wife is worried because she doesn't want to see me suffer another breakdown as I wouldn't survive. But I'm mentally stronger than I was before. Just need to sort out whatever is going on. It's a pain in the bloody behind though!

Yeah she's a star. I know it hasn't been easy for her. But I'm in a better place now. And it was only a matter of time before I had a blip. So it's all about how I handle it smile

Hi glenn i am new to all this but i am suffering really bad with withdrawal from zopiclone i was on it for about 5 years then was weaned off way too fast i feel!! i have been off zopiclone for about 4 months now and i am still getting withdrawal i get really bad panic attacks my blood pressure soars then drops too much and i end up with delirium feeling out of body tongue tingles and i feel sheer terror plus i am on a lowered dose of venlafaxine 150 mg i was on 180mg for about 4 year never any trouble and silly me thought it was doing nothing so i asked my psychiatrist to heighten the dose and he did so and put me on the highest 225mg to my detrement i could only last 2 weeks on that dose all this whilst i was coming off zopiclone!! i was also doing very well up until all this change with the medications losing weight doing high intensity interval training for 30 minutes a day 5 sometimes seven days a week....I can no longer do exercise as when i exert my body i go into a shock like state my blood pressure drops my hands go cold and clammy my tongue tingles i dont feel like eating mouth goes dry then i start going extremely light headed and confused my speech is slurred i have memory loss all in all not good..i am worried this zopiclone which i was on for 5 years at 7.5mg may have left my brain damaged and my body and i wont ever be able to exercise do you know if this will go away and could it be to do with both the changes in dose of venlafaxine and withdrawal from zopiclone or if it is just the zopiclone i did no know it would last this long and i am worried much appreciated if yourself or anyone else could help i have basically been neglected by my psychiatrist and i have demanded to see another one in the meantime but as of yet i have had no reply from them
