I'm well aware this is a pmr forum, so I'm asking for all your indulgence right now.
I've been on this forum for apprx 8-9mo.....it's been invaluable to me and I feel I've come to "know" many of you....
some of you may be aware I live in the USA, California to be specific.
our state is on FIRE right now....from top to bottom....wealthy folks and not.....
at latest count, (and it's changing hourly)....40+dead, 1 city wiped out, 100k+lost homes, 200k+in shelters....on, and on, and on!
the air is SO thick and black, heavy and smokey....you can't even see the iconic Golden Gate Bridge!
I'm posting this to let you-all know how dire things are right now AND ultimately how it's affecting my health
aside from all the chaos and complete STRESS.....
my throat is RAW, my eyes are a mess (watering and Burning) I'm having trouble breathing and wondering if I may be on the verge of a flair!
with that being said, my problems are FAR less than SO many!
please send your good thoughts and prayers.....
again, I apologize for hijacking this medical forum.
thanks for your ears and your time!
affectionately, Lynda

No apologies necessary, this is a tragic situation. Just talked to our son who moved out of CA recently. He has former friends and coworkers out there.
Praying and grieved. Know we care. Do keep us updated, Lynda.
Hope you were able to get food.
Heavy hearted, MariGrace. Sending hugs!!

please accept my apology for taking so long (24hrs) to get back to you. I've been remiss in answering several people and their good wishes and concerns. Things are just kinda CRAZY right now!
Californians are being told this is all the new "NORMAL"!!😵
I, for one, am having an extremely difficult time in accepting that!
I was born and raised in my beloved state.....can't Even imagine living anywhere else....but things are looking very dim right now.
Besides all the incredible, obvious Bad news (ie. loss of life and homes and businesses and CITIES!)....there's also wide spread loss of cell phone towers and communication (so far I'm Lucky...I still have my phone...but who knows??)
the fires still persist...wind is not helping at all!
I just listened to the news and they said there's a CHANCE we may get rain Next Thursday (thanksgiving)...wouldn't that be Something to be thankful for!
my health is not great (the smokey air is taking it's toll, and I'm pretty much stressed to the MAX!!
sorry for going on so long....as I'm this, I'm realizing how exhausted I am! I'm going to be a "bit lazy" right now and HOPE other wonderful pmr friends will read this (so maybe I can take a break from typing)....I luv you all...you know who you are...Silver, Mary.Anhaga, yourself, Ptolemy, ALL OF YOU!!!!...
please forgive me for not naming you all ..my brain's a bit foggy!! 😘👍😘👍💕

I don't think you should add to your worries by thinking you have to reply to everyone, Lynda. A general brief update letting us know you are safe would be enough. You have more than enough to contend with and need to keep yourself as well as you can in the circumstances. There is also the time difference between countries which makes it more difficult to keep up to date.
Thinking of you at this very difficult and awful time. Keep safe and I hope the rain comes soon.

We watch the news from California with horror and disbelief and sinking hearts.
What will happen to those without insurance? Is it possible to insure when these wildfires happen every year?
Hope the weather comes to your aid very soon.

You are most definitely in my thoughts. The videos and pictures I've seen are so very scary and upsetting. The beautiful state of California has been and is being devastated buy these horrific fires. Families have lost so much.
I lived in the Northwest Territories of Canada until recently and the summer forest and tundra fires often affected our town. Days and days of smoke were hard to tolerate and many people with breathing disorders had to leave town on a regular basis. I was on the verge of getting out of town a few times.
This is minor compared to what you're risking and suffering! Are you able to get out to a smoke free area? Do take care and please be safe.

Dear Lynda,
We are seeing the devastation every day here in Australia, our prayers and thoughts go out to you. We understand as these fires happen here just about every summer somewhere in Oz.
Our Fireman go over to help your men fight, and vice a versa your men come to help us fight our devastating fires, just horrible horrible happenings.
Thinking of you and all involved, take care.

I'm so sorry. This is horrific. My first thought when we heard about the fires and how vicious they are was - what? This is November! There shouldn't be fires in November! Keep safe.
