I'm well aware this is a pmr forum, so I'm asking for all your indulgence right now.

I've been on this forum for apprx 8-9mo.....it's been invaluable to me and I feel I've come to "know" many of you....

some of you may be aware I live in the USA, California to be specific.

our state is on FIRE right now....from top to bottom....wealthy folks and not.....

at latest count, (and it's changing hourly)....40+dead, 1 city wiped out, 100k+lost homes, 200k+in shelters....on, and on, and on!

the air is SO thick and black, heavy and smokey....you can't even see the iconic Golden Gate Bridge!

I'm posting this to let you-all know how dire things are right now AND ultimately how it's affecting my health

aside from all the chaos and complete STRESS.....

my throat is RAW, my eyes are a mess (watering and Burning) I'm having trouble breathing and wondering if I may be on the verge of a flair!

with that being said, my problems are FAR less than SO many!

please send your good thoughts and prayers.....

again, I apologize for hijacking this medical forum.

    This is a general comment to everyone. I was listening to an interview with the mayor of Paradise, the town that burned. She said they do drills practising escapes just for an emergency such as this. She credits those drills with saving many lives in this fire.

    A very important thing she said was that they should have been more forceful to make sure everyone registered their cell phones with the town's alert system. Those who weren't registered may be many who didn't make it out.

    i live in an earthquake zone and my city recently implemented a cell phone emergency alert system. i am registered. If any of you are in similar situations, please get registered!!

    I also want to mention that on our HGTV channel this past season they have been running a show called Welcome to Paradise and it was about this town. The show was about a couple who buys run down homes in Paradise and fixed them up and sells them. I hope they and their family are ok.

      hi mrs. cj....wow! I didn't know about the HGTV show!

      I'm afraid the entire town is Gone....so horrific! my heart breaks for these folks who have lost SO much.

      a few hours ago, we found out mt daughter's best friend just lost her home....burned to the ground.

      about registration of cells, I'm not sure what that means. could you explain?

      btw ...I'm Also in earthquake territory😱! Ohhh my!!

      Lynda, we live in tornado alley. We register for Code Red Emergency alerts. We get simultaneous phone and email messaging telling us what is happening.

      We also put together a "grab bag" to take to our safe place. ( What we hope is our safe place.)

      There are sites on line to share ideas about what needs to go in emergency bags.

      It is a good idea, no matter what type of emergency. Our son, while living in LA for years, had a "Quake Bag" by his door and one in his car.

      The tragedy with these fires, many were left no escape. Heart wrenching.

      It is too much to comprehend.

      Thank you MariGrace....so sorry in getting back to you...things are quite chaotic right now! on top of Everything, I just found out my insurance was canceled...a mistake I'm sure, but just ONE more thing to straighten out!

      in the meantime, all my future dr appts have been Canceled!!! ...(including, an upcoming eye surgery I've got scheduled!!

      Something's trying to TEST me right now!

    Lynda - it looks and sounds horrendous and I think we are all with you and hoping that you stay strong. Can you get your hands on a HEPA air filter? that at least will clean up the air in the house - a friend of mine said hers is coming on tuesday - which is still a while away but better than nothing. Thinking of you now.

      $$ is REALLY tight right now, so we'll see.

      in the meantime, my chest is "killing" me....throat is absolutely RAW!.....

    I'm so sorry to hear what's happening to you in California - we have been hearing about it on every news programme, but it brings it home very personally and vividly reading you message. Take care of yourself. I will hope for rain for you all, I think. A x
