Don't be surprised if the swelling lasts for a long time. . I tink it was about three months when I suddenly noticed the leg was about the same size as the good one. . .and the bend got better at that stage too.  the swelling makes it more difficult to bend and straighten . .  11 days is VERY early . . I found a big change between weeks four and six. . but the first three weeks were awful.  I think it helps to know that it is perfectly normal to feel like you do . . at least it tends to stop you worrying that something has gone wrong.

Thanks Martin. Yes it does help to know that others have had severe swelling too. I am in so much pain from the bruised parts too

Hang in there.......you will have off again on again sleep for a while! Try not to take the pain pills for sleep, don't become dependent! Yeah my sleepless days and nights lasted for at least a month or so! Just TRY to relax! I had the TKR 10 months ago.

I have to say that I used to take the pain tablets at eleven at night, then in the morning before the first lot of exercises, and once again around four O clock . .that way at least I got a couple of hours sleep before the pain woke me up again . . .I think it's important to take them regularly, as prescribed, and not only when you need them.  What is important, though, if you are on strong tablets like tramadol, co codamol, is to come off them gradually to avoid withdrawal symptoms.  Mine was six months ago . . pretty good now!
