15 year old nausea for almost 2 months now, please help!

So I'm a 15 year old female, and ever since the 9th of march I've been feeling quite ill. I went to the doctors and they said it was viral. A week later I went back and they prescribed me a antibiotics for sinus infection. A few days later I was throwing up. Which I thought I could have had a bug or it was side affects of the antibiotics. Which I think were amoxicillin. I waited a few days and went back to the doctor as I still felt very ill and they said it may be the antibiotics, so I had to finish the course with the fear or being sick again. I have a phobia of sick which didn't help at all. I carried on with the antibiotics and the nausea never went away however I was never sick again. Which made me believe it was a bug in my stomach. Two weeks after the the nausea is constantly there so the doctor prescribed me Gaviscon as I had really bad burps.

I am currently still taking this now. I have been missing days of school as I can't cope with the feeling of nausea. I haven't been sleeping properly, I have to sleep sitting up or on about 3 pillows, which isn't comfortable. I leave the light on as I feel less anxious.

I went back to the doctors and he said it was stress related as exams are coming up, prescribed me omeprazole (which takes 2 weeks to start working) have not seen any change so far and he told me to come back after my exams which is June!! Me and my mum are taking affect of this as she is stressed because we can't find an answer. I went back to the doctors today and I have finally been given a urine test and stool test to see if I have any infection or inflammation in my gut. However I can't go back till the 18th of may an I have exams before then. The nausea is constantly getting worse and I am going/ feeling like I ha e to open my bowels more than normal. It's horrible anyone suggest anything?

hi sophie,  l,m another, had bouts of nausea on and off a couple of years, since oct it became daily from waking till bedtime, went off meals, just small plain snacks occassionally, l felt full even eating little, tum would swell and burping, no particular pain, general aches and pain in pelvis ans abdomen when swollen, lost about half stone. But worst def nausea, exertion made it worse, so did jobs l0min at a time, then rest till it settled a bit, it just became an endurance, got very tired, frustrated and bored with, days of depression due to it. But felt it physical, as l,d had intersticial cystitus symptoms for many years, put down to phycalogical till finally referal to urologist who diagnosed with a scope, it also inflammation of bladder, so sceptical when gps are quick to put all down to phycalogical, not denying stress can add to things, but sometimes its the symptoms that give you stress. gps tried anti nausea no use, as with bought stuff gaviscon, ginger helped a bit. Finally saw gastroesnterologist who did scope diagnosed a bit of inflammation, put on omprazole, had been diagnosed with acid reflux years earlier, they didnt help, l was also on anti bs as preventative for ic attacks, after 3wks stopped taking anti bs, and omprazole, and suprisingly it settled down quite a lot, but still have small plain meals, though now try to have more food with vits mins, prior to that it was a bit of carbs, dairy, choc included, the gps didnt advice, and l got run down, now try to eat broccoli, pots, fish, chicken, yogurt, coconut milk and supplaments, but still waiting to go for scan, due to others probs.  l think the omprazole take 2-3wks to help, though dont help everyone, as most common med given. Agree that anyone with constant nausea or abdominal pain needs to have a scope to see if anything can be found, which often cant be found with sample,s. If your mum could go with you to gps, as they sometimes need pushing to do referrals. But there,s near always a wating list, and when your feeling lousy it aggrevates. Maybe you could have a word with the school about the problem. But if its getting worse and really debilitating or deyhydrating you there,s always a  and e if urgent need.

the thread on gastritus also have info and advice. Hope you get help soon

You had to wait so long! At least things have settled down for you and I know I'm not alone. It's a horrible vicious cycle that doesn't go away and I am to on omprazole. I have only just started this so it's gong to take ages to work. I dread the wait for the referrals. Want it gone now sad thankyou so much

Yeh, l did wait ages and cant even deal with thinking it about it now, so much time wasted with poor health,  with heinsight l wouldnt have put up with it so long, l,d have demanded referral, gone to a and e,  and l had paid for a private consultation, but picked the wrong ologist, due to gps influence, thinking it was a gyny problem, not urologist, suprisingly l,m not unique, lots of women with intersticial cystitus go on with pain and frequency for years, cos its a bit rare and many gps clueless about rare diseases, and reluctant to refer, again back to the phycalogical when your tests samples are clear. Now l,d advice anyone not to put up with ill health for an age, believing gps know all, they dont, it takes specialists,

When l started with the nausea, usual meds, tests,no chabnge,  but l told them l wanted to see a consultant, thought not going there again putting up with it. The nausea is horrible, restricting, so relieved it has settled, but has before, still its ok now so glad. l know how yuo feel, l guess most of us do when weve to wait, weeks, months, and your life is badly affected,, its how can they leave me in this state, l want help now, but  its how it works unless you can afford private. Hope you get help soon, lay it on about how it could affect your exams. Best wishes.

Exactly what I thought about them, they just and diagnose you with the simplest and most common that they think is necessary

Although sometimes they are right but, like you said what if it's rare and nobody even can find a cause. It really is not nice. I hate that so many people have to put up with it. And I'm sorry for that sad at least things are looking okay. Hopefully I get some results that can lead me in the right direction.

      Take care x

I've heard that constant nausea maybe due to social anxiety or something. Is that true or not?

Yeah that can be possible, but I think it would be obvious that it's social anxiety as it would only come on at certain times when your going out or something not sitting at home x

But I also feel nausea when I'm sitting at home so what about that but my nausea becomes worst when I'm going out

    Hello Sophie

Are you feeling any better these days... I hope you are 😊 . I told you that I have been going through my nausea for 9 months now of course not as bad as 6 months when I was bedridden and visits to the ET weekly very sick and dehydrated . I have taken Sony things to get rid of this nausea. I am still waiting to see a specialist so I had to experiment on my own.

I have seen some posts about aloe vera juice. I did take this and it is a great help. I kept getting upsets and was told by my dieitian and read it that you should only consume this while you took antibiotics or for a few weeks after. I took it for 4 months it can also irritate your stomach lining and add to your already troubles . So just be careful how long you take it for 😝.

But it might not react this way to you trial and error is what you will need to do for you and remedies you like💜.

      Hey Robin,

I haven't actually consumed any aloe Vera juice, as I wasn't quite sure. Sometimes you have to see what is best for you when your waiting on others for results. Things are still the same, anything can set it of. Like yesterday was horrible constant nausea all day since Saturday at 3:am until I went bed. Feeling better today. I hope all is well with you and you are not feeling so sick💙
