15cm Ovarian Cyst - Yikes!

Posted , 11 users are following.

I am 43 years old and recently diagnosed with a 15cm ovarian cyst.  My CA125 is normal.  No pain, was discovered through a catscan.  Doctor's said there might be a small solid area within the cyst/neoplasm.  They also said the chance of malignancy is 20%.  Anyone else have a situation like this?  I am having surgery next week to remove the left ovary, mass (cannot be done laproscopic due to size), and both falopian tubes.  I am SO nervous.  Anyone else have the surgery with hopefully positive outcome?  No female in my family has ever had cancer.  The doctor felt the fact that I feel good is a good sign and I have no abdominal bloating.  I would love to hear your thoughts.  Thank you!

    Hello,

Did anyone experience symptoms? I had a 15cm cyst that grew to be that large with no symptoms until it was too late. At 17, I had a fallopian tube and ovary removed. I am now 31 and worried there is something in there now.

      Hi,

Yes, my wife definitely had symptoms. Very tired, and always felt like she needed to pee. She would also get shooting pains on her sides and lower middle back. She also put on about 7LBs that she couldn’t lose now matter how much she worked out or how healthy she ate.

I haven’t posted since we found out she had it. After surgery we found it was cancer (mucinous Ovarian cancer). It is a very early stage (1C) and my wife is already done with 4 of her 6 treatments. It was scary at first, but now as i look back i realize how lucky we are that we got to it before it spread. These cysts are very common, but it is u common for it to be cancer. So this is not meant to scare you, as The odds are in your favor.

My wife is doing great and they are confident that there is no more cancer in her and the chemo was just precautionary to mop up any cells left behind that might have dropped.  I wish you the best of luck, and the only advice I can give you is to make sure you have a skilled gyno oncologist remove it.
