Hi..we live in India..my 17 year old daughter has been unwell since 16september....till November 3rd she complained of crazy aches and pains ..fatigue and headache. And low grade fever below 100 always..ebv is not common in India so many doctors are not aware of it.

We got numerous blood tests done from typhoid to tuberculosis all of which she tested negative.her ultra sound showed enlarged liver slightly and slightly enlarged lump nodes.

She was given antibiotics for 8..days after which the fever went.

We got her tested for ebv..which she tested positive for past ebv illness but level of antibodies high and positive in her body.so all doctors claimed ebv no longer present.

Since 3rd November.. she always complained of body ache fatigue and always feeling feverish though no fever was there..complained of stomach ache and acidity..got ultrasound done..liver was normal..nodes were gone..

Was taken to gastroenterologist..who prescribed medicine for stomach ache and acidity though couldn't see cause for concern.took medication stomach ache acidity fine but constantly complains of stomach feeling full.

Then on 1.December she got a bad attack of sinus..very uncommon for her to get this bad attack of sinus..throat painting and fever around 101..started homoeopath...fever and sinus went in 5 days.

Since then has been on homoeopath.

Told to build immunity..no fever..but low energy..constant fatigue..head ache joint pain....feels lot of her heat in her body.

Homoeopath claims all because of ebv..says has nodes in her neck.

My daughter says she hasn't felt normal since semptember. 2 hours of any activity tires her..has brain fog..lots of aches and pains.

Unfortunately for her she is class 12th and has exams in 2 months so stressed as well.

Today she had a bit hectic day now has 99.2 fever..she is so fed up.

Please help.i understand fatigue but this coming of fever again is normal?please help a very stressed mother

I had all these symptoms. Took about 9 months for everything to calm down but still some bad days 13months later. The best advice I can give is lots of healing foods, avoid processes food and sugar. Give pro-biotics everyday and try acupuncture. I had 6sessions and it greatly helped fatigue. ❤

      Hey Maneka,

Herbal remedies that have worked for me have included siberian ginseng and oregano, I think they can both be very effective with viruses and things like that.

Also she always has low fever..97..96 .5 but the days things are hectic as in goes to school she will get around 99.1 or 99.2...then after she is home it becomes 98 but body still hot..

      Hi Maneka,

Take it as encouraging that the other tests were negative, although I know it's frustrating because you don't feel any further forward. Just remember that with EBV it can take a prolonged recovery people for a lot of people, so if you daughter took unwell in September, it's very normal still to having the effects at this stage unfortunately.

Just want to reassure you that she will get better still, and not to panic if it still takes a bit of time, the worst period is these initial three months and the intensity should lessen as time goes on, but it can still take a bit of time so don't panic, she will still make a full recovery I truly believe in Jesus' name.

Thinking of you and remember it's key for your daughter just to take things easy and get a lot of rest and reduce stress as much as possible at this time, but still for her to do things she enjoys that don't take up too much energy and help lift the mood, like seeing friends, maybe reading or any other hobbies she has, going for short walks, etc.

      Take care

      Hi Maneka,

This virus lasts for a very long time, the doctors basically say rest, fluid and vitamins. I was very worried and frustrated and thought I would never get better, my daughter is still fighting it at a little over a year. My granddaughter became sick in April of last year and is getting better, but still tired if she over does it,

I know that it is very stressful, but she will get better it just takes a long time.

I'm off gluten dairy red meat bananas and tomatoes. Also limit other starchy foods like rice and potatoes. Mono can really weaken the immune system and all irritating foods including sugar and caffeine need to be eliminated for at least 12 weeks. Try drinking a tablespoon of raw Apple cider vinegar mixed with warm water every morning to alkalize the body. Vegetable smoothies and home made soups or chicken broth is healing too. Mono can cause dampness in the body and also trigger auto immune diseases so it's important to limit damp foods like bananas, grapes, potatoes or acidic foods like chocolate and coffee and use alkaline warm foods that can flush out the virus and the damp. This is a mixture of advice from both my doctor and naturopath. ?
