Hello fellow hippies
This time last year I was being prepped for surgery. I remember being so terrified of the unknown.
This year has gone by so quickly, and I'm pleased to announce that the surgery was a success, I'm no longer in pain and I'm back to my normal lifestyle
I can tell that it probably won't be long.... maybe another year.... before I have to get my left hip done. When that time comes, I won't hesitate to get the replacement.
Best wishes to all of you who are planning a FHR, or have already had the surgery. While there is a very small percentage that have ongoing issues, the huge majority of us will be left blessed with a new leash on life thanks to the amazing medical professionals.
Thank you All who gave me encouragement during the first few months. It really helped keep me sane and on the right track.
God Bless You All

Thank you Ginnys
Hopefully you'll get a date soon for your second one. My other hip isn't the greatest either. I'm hoping to get another year or two out of it. It doesn't bother me too much right now. Only time will tell.
Best of luck, and keep us posted!!

Congratulations Kimberly on a successful one year post-op! Next month I will have been one year postop also. Because everything was so successful with my right hip, I chose to have a left hip done a week ago. I can't say enough about the decision to investigate and choose a really good surgeon who has had a lot of experience doing hip replacements. In addition, my research also included finding the best hospital that was SERIOUS about reducing the risk of any kind of infections. A number of people I have known who have gone into the hospital, have come out only to face pneumonia, MRSA virus or some other kind of sickness that was contracted while they were there. I live in Richmond, Virginia and would not have trusted my surgeries to any other hospital other than St. Mary's of the Bon Secours Healthcare System. They actually have a 95% success rate with hip replacements.

There are definitely hospitals out there with a bad rap. I too did my homework to find the surgeon and hospital with the best ratings. I was very impressed with the fact that they test everyone for MRSA prior to being admitted. Mine came back negative... not sure what they do with those who come back positive. Probably put them in an isolated area with higher restrictions. I was nice to know that they take things like that seriously though. My husband recently had back surgery at another local hospital. We were not impressed at all by the care provided.
