1st anniversary!!

Hi all, just popping back to say that today is my first anniversary since my operation, I had an open surgery (bikini line cut) for a large fibroid, retaining my ovaries. One year on and all is well, best decision I ever made despite the bag of nerves I was before my op. Overall things have now returned back to normal though I will say that it is only very recently that my inner thigh has regained full feeling! I had bad nerves pre op and various problems post op including very heavy straw coloured discharge and a cyst/blood blister type thing the size of a large orange, I also had a wet area on my wound right up to August that only really seemed to heal after two weeks in the sun!
If I can be of any help or support to anyone about to go through or recently had the op, I would be glad to be of assistance, just post here and I will offer my own experiences, though not able to give any medical advice.
Take care and be strong...you can do this and it will change your life for the better!!!! xxx

Yes I remember you too, can't believe how quickly this past year has gone, and now into Feb this year too, I wish time would slow down! Two ops for me last year having had a gall bladder removal in November so maybe I'm a little happy to see the back of 2015 though
Hope you are doing well, and a happy that your went ahead with op xx

I suppose everyone is different, but I think once I was back at work and starting to lead a 'normal' life again my mood lifted considerably. I was off work for 15 weeks in total so it was a long time to be at home mostly on my own.
Have you considered the mood swings being possibly hormonal and maybe having a chat with your doc? I used to get mood swings before my op and took Starflower Oil 1000mg, that seemed to help me but thankfully I stopped taking it around 4 or 5 months after the op and have not needed it since...not sure if it would work for you as, as I have already said we are all different but maybe worth a try. As for pains in tum, I had 'knitting' pains for a fair few months afterwards but not sure exactly how long, just they did get less and less frequent as the time went by. Hope you get sorted soon xx
