2 TKR 10 yrs later

I listen to a Prolotherapy MD every weekend on the radio and heard him today and the people who call in with their joint issues and some other issues often....

All his work is with joint regeneration:  works to save people from surgeries...and tries to HELP those who already did the surgeries including replacements.....

A 74 yr old man called in and said he had both knees replaced at the same time 10 yrs ago and no pain but major stiffness after all these years...I'm beginning to realize this is the NORM,,,left with stiffness...

The doc then said he gets patients in his office with hardly any "bend"...after the replacements.

Now, I'm wondering do any of you consider collagen replacement supplements or silica for the stiffness or would NOTHING help after all the  foreign parts are in the knees.

Or injections of WD40 to loosen things up!!!!!

I'm gonna keep bending, take my supplements including collagen and still consider the Prolozone injection(s) to save my original parts...

The hip replacement outcome was ENOUGH to last me a lifetime.....J

Ooohh your poor friend I bet that hurt primrose oil is so good do you know if you have a scar and cut open a capsule every other day and rub it on it promotes healing leaving less of a scare my friend practiced it made a real difference as the scar was om her face.I will definitely keep them up How long have you had your hip replaced? It sounds a terrible operation did you notice a lot of difference afterwards? Tina x

Tina, my hip replacement was 4 yrs ago at 72, I dreaded doing a surgery, I'm not a fan of cutting my body....have had 2 in my 76 yrs .. a hysterectomy 30+ yrs ago and left with sciatic damage, t his replacement I'm left with femoral nerve damage....

Not what I expected FOR SURE.....

But no GROIN pain and that was a big PAIN IN THE A** and that pushed me to do it.....

Then the knee and foot/ankle are all worse since replacement, as body is out of alignment....and pressure on other joints....

Fix one thing, mess up others....  That is a good reason too why I will do all to not cut my knee.....so aggressive treatments and oils are in my life now and the horizon.....my social life is limited but I'm much older than you I believe, so I'm not missing a thing out there....we are all in our places  in our lives....right?

A friend in Palm Springs, CA has a male friend who is 76 and he is a great athletic jock...tennis, bicycle riding and whatever else...well he did a new knee early this year and she says he's doing good...pain meds here and there, but I think because he was so physical before he's had a good outcome...  How stiff his knee is  I don't know....if I saw him I would ask, but I don't see him....

I'm content doing little and keep my own knee....J

I certainly agree with you Joy and think your very sensible my consultant also asks if I have groin pain wasn't ever sure why he also asks do clothes touching my knee hurt? Not sure of that either. The constant pain drives me mad I think with having back problems too it does me no favours as I try to walk and sit in positionsto suit both problems. I have similar problrms with my right knee but the pain is no where as bad I truly hope it will never ever need to have them both done but i would hold out till the last chance I had that scares me.What does your hip feel like my surgeon said my knee will never feel like my own knee cant imagine how it will feel I suppose the hip is the same.Im 47 just gone but have always been very active till this just hoping I get back to at least half of it .we never know how long we have so its always the best to make the most of life I have a great family and am lucky there would just like to do more with them hopefully next year I will smile xTina

Yes 47 is young and my knee didn't start to creek until I was 57 and I exercised for years....but not a runner....walker yes, a  LOT....and a gym workout queen...  I have lived in warmer climate for 49 yrs so that was probably on my side......

My cousin in the East lived in the cold weather and I think she's had every joint replaced and starting at 65 though with our Medicare for seniors insurance....

Well, I sure do hope things work out good for you....

I just iced lower back, lay on ice gel packet, heating pad on knee and my knee feels better after heating.....gets blood flowing....you know acupuncture can help a lot too....this gets blood flowing that is stagnent..

Yes, we have great weather, just came out of a 5 month heat wave, it was  horrible and we are in a horrible going on 4 yr drought....but for joints hotter weather is best....that's why some americans most west to Arizona, new Mexico and Calif with narley arthritic issues....

I didn't want to come here 49 yrs ago, but I'd never go back to cold weather.....

We are 7 hrs behind you and I'm headed for my thursday bridge game....J   Keep warm and bend the knee(s)....
