Hi all,

Just wondering can you tell me how long yo uall waited for your operation. I was told on the 20 Feb 2016 my op would be 2 to 3 months. How much notice do you get for the offical date?? Can't find much info on it. I haven't had my pre op yet, but Ive had my MRSA ones done.

Thanks

Tracy

    I'm in Cornwall.

After a long road to diagnosis I had a six week wait for the first op and then 6 months (scheduled, as that is the gap my surgeon works with) for the second.

It is a frustrating time because you can't plan anything, the pain was driving me mad and I just wanted to get on with it.

I had a date for my second hip and was really excited but my poor surgeon had to return to SA for a family bereavement so I was put off for a month.

I would suggest emailing your surgeons secretary and requesting a cancellation especially if all your prep tests etc are complete

      Hi Kate,

not had pre op yet just MRSA ones on 20 Feb. They gave a time scale then on 2-3 months. Im hoping for May - bring it on, can't plan anything - its been a pain really - I should be in Benidorm today celebrating St Patricks day - couldnt book as we didnt know at that point when the op would be - Ive just booked 3 days in scotland in April - as I know the recovery is at least 12 weeks beofre I can fly anywhere. Thanks for your help.

    Hi

I was put on the "list" 3rd week in November 2015 and got a call on 15th December to ask if I would consider going private (NHS paying) at my local Spire on 2nd Feb and it all happended as arranged.  I had my 6 week check on Tuesday, all good.  I am in Edinburgh and I had heard the waiting list was not that long here and no cancellations either. I guess it is a bit of a postcode lottery.

I hope you dont have to wait too long and have no cancellations.

    hugs
