2 weeks post op

Hi

Its my first time posting on here and I would like to say how glad I am so many people have taken the time to share their journeys it's so helpful . I'm 2 wks post op after a P&A repair my issue is I've had a look down below and am shocked at how lumpy and ugly it looks. Ihave a small bump with a hole which is bleeding I rang the hospital and they said it's probably from where a stitch has come away and to rest and see what happens over next couple of days also I only have a follow up with surgeon 7 weeks post op this seems along time .. is this all normal ? I don't think they explain recovery expectations enough post op wish I'd looked for advice before the operation. Maybe I've to much time on my hands and over thinkingsmile

    Hi Jane

Snap! Had my op on the 4.04.17, haven't dared to check out the op site😮scared although feels a mess!!!!! Perineum feels like it was a running stitch that was pulled up to gather !!!! Anyway I digress wasn't told until I was discharged that would have to inject myself with anticoagulant daily for a week did you have this? My hospital don't organise follow up for 3 months, keep me posted how you are getting on xxxx

Hi your comment made me laugh as you felt just like me . I am feeling better this week as I've really took it easy and done hardly anything, which is really hard when your family's idea of a tidy house is miles away from yours . Also as women we are used to getting on with things and unless it's a near death experience just carry on but as previous people (Matron has been especially helpful) have said you don't want to undo the surgeons work so rest. The healing seems to be going well but my scar feels very thick and hard not sure if that's the swelling or just to be expected. I'm still bleeding but had the mirena coil fitted at same time and it might be that causing it . I have a post op appointment on the 16th May so hopefully I will get an idea if it's been a success smile keep up the good work and take care of yourself and remember rest, rest and more rest lolxxx

      Hi Jane

Glad I made you laugh, it's the best medicine so they say lol, I know what you mean about cleaning up, who'd have thought I would want to hoover it's 😝 crazy and why do the family say "if you want be to do something just ask " aah why can't they see it needs to be done 😬. Totally agree Matrons great 👍 Really helpful advice. Haven't got my post op app yet should be approx 3 months seems a long time to me ? Anyway good to talk to you take and ditto rest rest rest 😤😤😤😴😴😴x

      Hi Elainer7

No problem, I had anterior, posterior and perineum repair on 4.4.17 so over 2 weeks post op. Apart from a couple of hiccups an infection etc am ok. How long are you taking off work? I know what you mean with the kids I've 3 daughters and sometimes it's like why is everything so much trouble!!! My husbands been great though so I'm very 🍀 lucky. Do tell your daughter what you've had done is classed as major surgery and just because you may look fine it's massively important not too over do it no one wants to end up back in hospital, the physio I saw before discharge said, they see so many people back because they didn't rest enough and did too much too soon, take care and look after yourself 👍😻x

      Hi Jane

Don't know whether to say lucky you! I'm not fortunate enough to have any follow up appt for 3 months can you believe it, and then it's not with my consultant, it's a specialist nurse clinic. Hope you get on ok keep me posted 😻X
