2 years of throat clearing, thick mucus and post nasal drip sensation (allergy/reflux/nerve?)

Hello,
Suffering for 2 years with sensation of thick mucus stuck at the back of the nose, which I'm often able to hock up out of my mouth (clear but very "snotty" and like thick glue when it's in a tissue).
Sometimes it gets in my throat and I often clear my throat all day long too. I guess this is post-nasal drip, but not watery or thin (like you apparently get from an allergy), it's very thick and feels awful like a lump or glob that won't move, until I hock it up, but within minutes it's back again...
Tried all reflux and allergy medications (double-dose PPIs, steroid sprays, allergy RAST tests, antihistamines, singulair, antihistamine sprays, nasal irrigation, gastrocopy, multiple nasal/throat endoscopes, sinus CT scans), and they can't identify the problem... All of my symptoms disappear completely, when I eat or lay down with my head to either side (which I find very odd! Equally, if I take pseudoephridrine (oral decongestant), my symptoms go too (but I know that's not a long term option).
Anyone ever dealt with anything similar or know what to suggest next?I've been thinking of self-treating with amitriptyline (10mg at night) and gabapentin (100mg 3x per day), to see if this is a hypersensitivity/nerve issue. I have absolutely no other symptoms and can't live much longer like this, it's completely ruined my life and things are just getting worse
Thanks for any help at all.

Ive had the mucus glue with blood in for 11 years, since i was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis, i have always had over production of mucus since a really early age, But since around the time was diagnosed with chronic sarcoids it has been more noticable, i used to think it was a side effect. and when it flared up again in 2016 with a drowning in mucus cough and big sticky lumps every day has been more stressing. few days ago i rushed myself to a&e/ER and whist there still hacking my heart out injured my back that i can barely move now. The doctor has given me Nasonex and im on my 3rd day of it. It has stabilised some excess production whilst i eat already, though even as i right this ive just coughed out a big lump of the sticky mucus. the last 11 years of this has worn me down a lot, even having Septoplasty for a deviated septum and vessels sealed behind incase that was the issue. Had a brief rest of several months from the sticky after that. I just wonder if it is part of my disease which only goes into remission but never goes. I have also vomited every day from 4 to 43 and acid reflux most of my life, again since 2011 was prescribed omeprazole, and been on it ever since, and now at 53 that part of life is better, though i do have an enlarged epiglotis because of it,. So is Nazel drip, and reflux all caused this problem with the sticky mucus. All you can do is keep pushing. Ive wanted to give up so much at times.
Am waiting for the day you can just walk into a gp's center and they will pop you through a full body scanner... Think thats a long time off .

Hi Derek jp
See if you can find my post from 2 days ago titled Hi I'm back. I updated my condition diagnosis and it may be of help to a lot of us on this site. Basically forget the ENTs and go to gastroenterologist.

YES!!!! all the surgeries, nasal sprays , PPIs, zantacs,, nasal scopes, antibiotics, nasal rinsed were useless. If you haven't yet seen a gastroenterologist, make an appointment.

I saw a post that said I probably got better because I haven't posted in a while. The sad answer is I have not gotten better. The last time I posted I mentioned a visit to a new ENT but felt I got brushed off as a "quality of life issue". I was angry at his attitude, however, he had mentioned that my nasal issues are probably not "nasal" issues but reflux issues. On the off chance that he was right, I went to see a gastroenterologist. And BINGO!!!! He was so understanding and nice and told me the following and that it very well may be. 1. The reason nothing comes out of my nose when I blow it is because the mucus is not in my nose, but in my laryngopharyngeal area of the throat...also know as "Silent Reflux". He has me scheduled for a EDG and is going to take a biopsy to confirm either reflux or to see if there are any other organisms. He said I do not need a PPI but will prescribe motility medication to allow the mucus to be pushed down the esophagus instead of sitting in the laryngopharyngeal area. He said that very often ENT physicians don't pick up on this as they are only focused on the NOSE. I damn hope he is right !!! I see a light at the end of the tunnel... and hoping it is not an oncoming train!!!cry I will keep you all posted on the results. It won't be until early December.

Sorry ammy, the status is that I am still struggling every day... nothing has changed yet I continue to spend every penny I have on trying to resolve it. I won't accept a "you need to deal with it" approach but it's virtually impossible to live normally/without struggle

So I had my endoscopy last wednesday. Nothing unusual was spotted or found.
For the rest of the day after it, and the following day, the lump feeling had seemed to disappear. Not sure as to why?
Anyway, it's back and it's currently worse than ever. Waking up and struggling to swallow without it feeling I'm trying to swallow huge chunks of food.
I don't know what the next move is really!

Yes I have exactly the same problems and its hard for other people to understand exactly how bad you feel . I feel as if I'm blocked all the time.I believe I have had LPR for some years. After a dignosis of Gerd and Barratts I decided to have a LInx implant . Since having, it seems to have triggered the constant muscus. Ive had further endoscopies and a 24 hr PH test which confirmed the presence of some reflux still but within the normal range and that the LInx is working fine. I've been prescribed various tablets , tried going back on proton inhibators, tried various anti muscus products all with without any success. I dont have any blocked noise but will now start to investigate my sinuses as I wondering if I might have a post natal drip although I cant feel it,

Make sure you rule out any drugs with pseudoephedrine in them for this side effect. It's very common and the longer you take it, the more likely you're to get experience it. I did.
