21weeks post TKR

Hi,

I am now at 21 weeks. Last week I hardly slept. The swelling on my knee seems completely gone, accept when I overdo it.

With the loss so swelling my knee became clunky and it seemed to be clicking into place. The doctor thought so too.

Pits getting better now, I am sleeping without a pillow between my knees. It gets uncomfortable, but not so often.

my bend is 147 degrees. So, I think I have really turned the last corner (fingers crossed).

Im still taking painkillers at night to get me through, and occasionally during the day.

      Hi Jean,

I brought her home from hospital last night. I really didn't want to, and she didn't want to go. But the senior nurse said that her surgeon had said she could go.

The other nurses and the two orderlys all were shaking there heads, they all thought it was wrong. I asked the senior nurse to call her surgeon. He wasn't available.

They had moved her bed up near the nurses station, the room has no door and the corridor is noisy. She wouldn't have had any sleep, so she decided to go home.

The senior nurse came running after us and said she had spoken to Dr Patton and he said to go home.

She only has to take Panadol, her pain is so much stronger than that. They gave her Oxycodol for night time

I haven't thought about my knee, that's the only good thing

    hi Caz

why do these hospitals send people home when it's obvious she's not ready

but on the other hand I know her Mum will look after her

she must be scared in fact you both must be after what she's just gone through.

lets hope she makes a speedy recovery with her family's care and attention.

    hi Caz

lit seems ages since we last messaged.

i hope your daughter is doing well now and you are looking forward to your holidY over here.

theres been no change with my knee so I just seem to have been unlucky.

the G Ps don't listen ...all they say is ...it takes time ...up to 12 months well it's over 7 months now and I'm still limping and in pain even if I only walk for half an hour.

i have just booked a one week holiday in Spain...my knee may as well. Hurt in the sun as at home.😄

Take care Caz and all the best to your daughter

      Hi Jean,

so sorry to hear that you are still in so much pain.

My knee seems to be getting better all the time. I walk every day with my hubby. We are both trying to lose weight for our holiday. It's a long flight and we want to feel comfortable in the seats.

I seem to be able to walk as far and as long as I want, but it locks up when I stand still. When I say locks up, it just sort of feels like it's bandaged tightly.

my daughter is getting better. Her terrible bruising is starting to fade and her specialist is monitoring her periods. She will be given the fertility drug at the end of May, fingers crossed.

I think a holiday in Spain might do you good. I really hope you enjoy it. I think the warmth might be what your knee needs.

      Take care, keep smiling

      Caz x
