Hi, Don't be scared, it's for your own health. The colonoscopy is uncomfortable and maybe embarrassing for you but not painful. They do it all day long every day and you're no different. 4 mos is much too long for const. for a woman your age. GP should have done something before now. Wind is a good sign that you do have some space in your colon. Can you eat and how much weight have you lost.

    Best of luck

I can usually eat but have lost close to 30 pounds in last 4 months. Also when I have gas it  doesn't want to go out my rear passage. It fades rite their it seems. Idk .I never get that urge to go to bathroom. Idk. Thx for replying to me feel free to again.

Sorry, I saw pearl in your name, but no difference. 30lbs is too much unless your weight was up before. The pain could be wind. I didn't get pain when the cancer appeared, nor const. come to think of it. Just lots of spindly smelly stools. But nevertheless the colonoscopy will sort it out. You're on the right road now. I'm due a scan today and want a good one. Haven't had one since before my bowel op 23/7. Poor colon can't get itself reorganised to work by itself. Chemo, radiotherapy, op and just finished last chemo. Let me know if you find a lax that works better. Or is it just exercise and the right food.

Well metamucil with miralax did nothing. Miralax with dulcolax nothing. Magnesium Citrate with dulcolax has worked. I also take LInzess, it's a new drug. It helps. I also take methadone.

I'm not familiar with these. Perhaps I should try a harder one. Although I've tried others, I tend to stay with what the hosp. recommend. But I do find 2 works better than 1, for a little while anyway. I was recommended prunes by a hosp. nurse and 3-4 per day did work for a while. Then I got an acid tum and couldn't eat most fruit and veg. so stopped prunes. I eat baked beans now too, protein. But do step up with the fruit and veg. I got an acid tum 2 yrs before the colonoscopy. It was diagnosed then as gallbladder lining thickening and gastroenteritis.

Pearl Jam is an American rock band. My favorite actually.

Still here then. You're not American are you. I wondered if when I saw your '30 pounds'. Not into rock myself. Old James Taylor type. But this is not medical. So Bye

Welcome to my life....I've been like that for as long as I can remember and I'm 49...for some reason I can't go on my own and it doesn't matter how long I wait...the longest I have gone without going is a month...I laugh at ppl who think they are constipated after a couple of days.  I eat very little...just a couple of kilos overweight...I walk for an hour a day as I was diagnosed with GERD a couple of years ago.  My tummy bloats so bad I look 7 months pregnant.  I don't want to take laxatives but I now have 2 sachets of Movicol once a week.  It is gentle without the pain.  It doesn't work like a laxative but adds water to your stools...taking fibre like Metamucil just fills me with wind and don't make me go anyway.  If I could go to the toilet like every other human being on this planet I would be skinny as a rake instead I just have to look at food and put weight on.  I have tried everything diet, exercise etc.  My Mum said I was constipated as a baby and she used to have to force feed me little rocks which was the only available medicine at the time so I guess I was born this way...booooo

That's a good song. I prefer when there electric though. I also like there activism. DId you know Mike McCready has Crohns disease? He advocates for digestive disorders.

When you say longest you haven't gone is mo. do you mean not gone without assistance, naturally. Were you hospitalized? Movicol and others, is recommended by my hosp. 2 sachets per wk keeps you regular daily does it. Max is 6 or is it 8, daily. Yes I don't know why I was a bit worried if I went over 24 hrs, if. Except I liked 24 hrs, done and dusted first thing am.and I could get on with what I wanted to do. Not hang around the house waiting for the lax to work. Skinny is not so good. Just the same as money isn't everything. For one thing too expensive. The stitches on the inside kept poking thru my skin as there wasn't enough fat and that would happen sitting, painful. Then there's the immune system breaking down, open to all infections and getting them.

I can only go w/ powerful laxatives. Never naturally. Last 4 1/2 months. Here in the USA we don't have Movicol. Idk what that is.

Have you enquired at your drugstore, maybe there is something by another name. I found that many drugs are. I don't know what GERD is. Have a friend though who has had Crohns since 5 yrs old and he's in his 40s and not much left inside and happy, works. Gives me a lot of advice. I don't know East Hampton. My daughter and her 2 little ones live near Guildford. She has a NP who she swears by. If he can't treat her he will send her to her GP. Bye and take care

I don't like np or pa or even most er docs. As a rule.

Im back and I had my colonoscopy, prep was only fair but doc said he didn't see cancer. He is leaning towards some kind of intestinal motility disorder. My doc said do what i have to, to go to the bathroom. Then he said the only other treatment is removing all or part of my colon and you don't want that at 29yrs old. Follow up in 1 month. So that is where I stand.
