2wks post op Bunionectomy

Hi! Just updating from my surgery! I had a plate, 2screws & 1 pin placed in my foot from my severe bunion !! I had my stitches trimmed today 2wks after surgery,I was scared of looking st my foot for the 1st time after a big trauma but the scar is not as bad as I thought, it looks neat, but sore but no swelling Hardly at all, but I have the removable cast on now also using the bunion boot! I have been advised to still continue walking on my heal! Am just wondering if anyone else who's had similar or same surgery find the cast irritating your scar at all?? I feel like it could easily get infected too?? I have been Feeling a tightening were the plate has been put in, am also wondering if that feeling will go or ease of? Also can u drive with the cast on as am unsure? Would be great to have a reply to this! Thank you!

    Hi can i ask where you are from im uk we must do different procedures i also had severe Hallux abducto valgus done two plates and screws at base of toe. You need to walk on heal with special surgical shoe for six weeks max. The numb feeling on toes wont leave especially big toe for at least 12 weeks you will get tightening for three months at least e45 is good cream to applyim getting my otjer foot done in five weeks which is 11 weeks after first and again its severe ive got hypermobile syndrome and im only 42 so classed very young to be getting these ops hope this helps. Do nothing at all for six weeks.

      Am only 26 & the surgeon said my bunion was large considering how young I am!! I am from England (Hull) what about you??

      My toes don't feel numb, I have all my feelings back on my foot but I have the stiffness in my big toe &. Second toe, but I guess I will need physio afterwards!

      Did you have the removable cast that looks like a mini slipper with a Velcro strap that goes across the top??

      I hate sleeping with it on, been awake most of tonight!!

      Oh my god. You don't have to sleep with it. You only have to wear it when you're gonna be on your feet. That's insanely uncomfortable to sleep in it.

      My surgeon told me I have to sleep in the cast as night time hours are the most time when my bones will be fixing back together when am sleeping!! Are you from the Uk?
